Job Title: Regional Operations Manager 

Reports To: Director of Operations/President  

 

Job Summary:  

Responsible for the overall success and growth of the respective division. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for the planning, scheduling, cost management and overall execution of field service projects within the respective Region. 

  • Delegate applicable work to Field Service Supervisors, Project Coordinator, and Sales Staff. 

  • Audit projects to determine areas to improve operational efficiencies; estimating methods or eliminating deficiencies to profitability. 

  • Collaborate with supervisors and sales team for optimal project execution.  

  • Continually improve the operational systems, processes, and policies in support of the organization’s mission, specifically optimizing management reporting, information flow, business process, and organizational planning. 

  • Actively participate in sales calls to potential customers. 

  • Increase market position by locating, developing, and negotiating new business relationships and future opportunities. 

  • Review business metrics monthly, quarterly, and annually with Directors and Owners. 

  • Perform interviews for potential team members and promote Premier as a place of employment for viable technicians and engineers. 

  • Review career path objectives with supervisors and specialists to facilitate professional growth within your team. 

  • Coordinate with Operations Managers at other location to provide resources and workforce when needed. 

  • Maintain open lines of communication and a positive professional rapport with customers to ensure they have complete trust in PPM. 

  • Perform job site audits. 

  • Thorough working knowledge of company purchasing policies, processes, and procedures. 

  • Respond effectively to internal and external customer needs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Knowledge of industry testing and safety standards such as NFPA including OSHA compliance standards, federal, state, and local safety laws and DOT rules and regulations. 

  • Extensive knowledge regarding NETA acceptance and maintenance testing 

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to change. 

  • Analyze complex technical situations to direct team and solve customer challenges. 

  • Requires a high degree of communication, supervisory, organizational, and good management skills. 

  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and work well under pressure to meet goals and deadlines. 

  • Ability to work independently while utilizing excellent judgement. 

  • Must have intermediate level computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, email, internet, etc. 

  • Able to follow and enforce all company rules, practices, and policies. 

 

Work Environment: 

  • Must be willing to relocate within 60 miles of the hiring regional office. 

  • Corporate business hours are Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4:30pm, but depending on the scope of works hours outside of business hours may be required. 

  • Work in close, but safe, proximity to live electrical substations. 

  • Blend of office work and customer visits is expected. 

  • Able to work flexible hours including overtime, nights, weekends, and some holidays. 

  • Able to work overnight, multi-day and out-of-town projects. 

  • Must be willing to take calls, give technical advice, and schedule workforce outside of the normal workday. 

  • Standing, climbing, walking, lifting, carrying, and grasping are all required. 

 

Education and Work Experience: 

  • Requires a High School Diploma or GED.  

  • Bachelors or Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or Business Management is preferred, but not required. 

  • Military experience is preferred 

  • Minimum of 10 years management/supervisory/field experience in a similar electrical industrial environment; substation construction, electrical maintenance, electrical testing/commissioning and electrical repair. 

  • Experience writing and managing budgets including monthly profit and loss statements. 

  • Experience presenting project information and outcomes to customers and company leadership. 

  • Customer interaction skills experience a plus. 

  • Mechanically inclined background preferred. 

 

Other Requirements: 

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check, education verification, motor vehicle report, physical abilities test, an approved hair and urine drug screen, as well as periodic, unannounced random testing. 

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and must have or be willing to obtain an endorsement to operate a combined vehicle weight up to 26k lbs.  

  • Must be able to lift and maneuver at least 25 lbs. 

  • Must be willing to obtain a company paid TWIC, OSHA 10 hour, NFPA 70-E, and CPR training.
