DO Supply is a global supplier of industrial automation equipment. We are seeking an Industrial Automation Technician to join our production team and support the testing, refurbishment, repair, and calibration of industrial automation equipment.

This position focuses on working with PLCs, drives, HMIs, motors, and other industrial control products. The ideal candidate is hands-on, technically minded, and enjoys troubleshooting and solving problems. Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs, HMIs, and drives is highly preferred but not required.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Test, repair, calibrate, and refurbish industrial automation equipment including PLCs, drives, HMIs, motors, and control devices

• Troubleshoot equipment failures using diagnostic equipment, schematics, soldering techniques, and component-level analysis

• Verify repairs and functionality using multimeters, oscilloscopes, tachometers, simulators, and other testing equipment

• Configure and program automation devices, including parameter setup and communications verification

• Document repair activities, testing results, and equipment status within company systems

• Perform quality inspections to ensure repaired equipment meets operational and quality standards prior to shipment

• Coordinate with Sales, Purchasing, Inventory, and Operations teams to support customer orders and product availability

• Maintain and improve testing equipment, fixtures, and workstations

• Identify and recommend opportunities for process improvements that improve quality, efficiency, and throughput

• Share technical knowledge and collaborate with other team members

• Assist with training and mentoring less-experienced technicians as knowledge and experience increase

• Adapt to varying workloads involving diagnostics, repair, calibration, validation, and order fulfillment support

• Perform other duties, tasks, or work as assigned

 

Qualifications

• Strong technical aptitude and hands-on troubleshooting skills

• Experience working with electrical, electronic, or industrial automation equipment

• Soldering experience including through-hole and surface-mount components

• Ability to think critically and solve technical problems independently

• Comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

• Effective written and verbal communication skills

• Basic computer proficiency and recordkeeping abilities

• Desire to learn industrial automation products and technologies

 

Knowledge & Skills Required

• Understanding of industrial automation systems and controls

• Experience using diagnostic and testing equipment

• Ability to read electrical diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation

• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting abilities

• Knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, drives, motors, and related automation equipment preferred

• Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook and basic computer applications

• Strong organizational and time-management skills

• Ability to multitask and prioritize work effectively

 

Education & Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent required

• Technical School Certification in Electronics, Electrical Technology, Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, or a related field required

OR

• Minimum of 2 years of related industrial automation, electronics, repair, maintenance, or technical experience

• Knowledge of industrial automation products is a plus

 

Physical Demands

• Occasional reaching, working overhead, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling

• Frequent walking, standing, typing, and repetitive hand-tool use

• Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds

• Frequent lifting up to 25 pounds

• Continuous lifting up to 10 pounds

Work Schedule

This is a full-time position scheduled Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm with a flexible one-hour lunch break. Employees must maintain reliable transportation and consistent attendance. Remote work is not available for this position.

 

Work Environment

This position operates in a production and warehouse environment. Employees work with industrial automation equipment, electronic devices, testing systems, hand tools, soldering equipment, and repair fixtures. Team members collaborate closely with Production, Sales, Purchasing, Inventory, and Operations departments to support customer needs and business objectives.
