Overview
This is a hands on field service role for someone who can test, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair electrical power equipment safely and accurately. You will support acceptance and maintenance testing projects at customer sites, lead and mentor less experienced technicians, document field results, and serve as a technical expert for customers and internal teams. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in safety, precision, professionalism, and getting the job done right the first time.
What you will do
Field service and testing
-
Travel to customer sites to inspect, test, troubleshoot, perform start up, and collect data on electrical systems
-
Maintain, test, repair, rebuild, and replace low, medium, and high voltage switchgear and circuit breakers
-
Troubleshoot automatic transfer switches
-
Test and inspect low, medium, and high voltage cable installations
-
Maintain, test, and repair transformers and related equipment
-
Test and calibrate solid state and electromechanical relays
-
Perform relay calibration and power metering
-
Conduct low and medium voltage motor control center and contactor testing
-
Start up, troubleshoot, and repair generator controls and transfer schemes
-
Test and commission protection and control systems on high voltage substations
-
Sample and interpret insulated fluids
Leadership and project support

Supervise Trainees, Assistants, and Technicians in the completion of electrical testing duties

Guide, mentor, train, and supervise Level 1 and Level 2 certified NETA Trainees and Assistant Technicians

Observe testing activities and assign work based on technician capability and project needs
-
Ensure testing of similar items is completed consistently across technicians
-
Track project scope completion and communicate progress to ABM and customer management
Safety, reporting, and compliance
-
Complete Job Hazard Analyses including arc flash and shock analyses

Maintain strict compliance with company policies, customer requirements, and regulatory laws

Review and submit timecards, expenses, and project reports
-
Document test results and complete field reports accurately and on time
-
Participate in rotating emergency on call duty
Customer support and technical expertise

Build and maintain strong customer relationships through professionalism and technical knowledge

Assist in the sales process by acting as a technical expert in electrical testing and maintenance of electrical equipment
May be modified from time to time. Other duties, tasks, and work may be assigned.

What we are looking for
-
3+ years of electrical testing experience preferred
-
Strong understanding of industrial safety processes and LOTO
-
Electrical, construction, or electrical field service background required
-
BSEE is a plus but not required
-
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and three line drawings
-
Ability to work safely in low, medium, and high voltage applications
-
Experience using test equipment such as megger, hi pot, WRM, TTR, power factor test set, and high current breaker test sets
-
Ability to record and interpret test data related to electrical components, power quality, and engineering studies
-
Strong electrical and mechanical skills

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Clear written and verbal communication skills

Ability to organize and write procedures in a logical and methodical manner

Good time management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities

Ability to work in a fast paced environment

Proficiency in Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint

Education
-
High school diploma or GED required
Physical requirements
-
Ability to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
-
Ability to climb ladders and scaffolding and work on man lifts occasionally
-
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 25 pounds continuously
-
Frequent reaching, overhead work, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling

Frequent walking
-
Continuous standing and repetitive hand motion
