Overview
This role owns the enterprise safety, health, and environmental program across Group CBS operating companies, including PEARL certified circuit breaker service shops, NETA accredited field service teams, CBS ArcSafe, and Vacuum Interrupter operations. You will serve as the go to safety authority for the business, driving compliance, reducing risk, strengthening safety culture, and aligning safety expectations with customer requirements, accreditation standards, and private equity governance. This role partners closely with operations, field leadership, engineering, quality, and HR to build safety into daily execution without slowing down productivity or customer commitments.

What you will do

Enterprise safety leadership
• Build and maintain a company wide safety management system aligned with OSHA, NFPA, NETA, PEARL, and applicable state and federal requirements
• Serve as the corporate subject matter expert for electrical safety, arc flash mitigation, energized work practices, and high voltage environments
• Set safety strategy, annual goals, KPIs, and continuous improvement initiatives across all Group CBS businesses

Field and shop safety programs
• Develop and enforce safety programs specific to PEARL certified breaker reconditioning and repair shops, NETA field testing, commissioning, and maintenance services, ArcSafe remote racking systems and customer demonstrations, and vacuum interrupter handling, testing, and replacement
• Own practical controls for energized work, LOTO, confined space, fall protection, crane and rigging, and other high risk tasks
• Partner with operations leaders to embed safety into SOPs and work instructions, not as a standalone binder on a shelf
• Conduct regular field visits and attend major outages, projects, and customer sites to observe work, reinforce expectations, and coach in real time
• Support job hazard analysis, pre job planning, and dynamic risk assessment directly with outage and field leaders

Compliance, audits, and accreditation support
• Lead internal and external safety audits and inspections
• Support PEARL, NETA, and customer safety audits including documentation, corrective actions, and follow up
• Maintain OSHA logs, incident records, and required filings
• Monitor regulatory and standards changes and update policies accordingly
• Own safety documentation, manuals, and version control across business units while allowing for real operational differences where needed

Incident management and risk reduction
• Lead incident reporting, investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation
• Track and analyze metrics, near misses, and leading indicators
• Identify systemic risks and implement controls to reduce recordables and lost time events

Training and culture development
• Build and deploy training for field techs, shop teams, and leaders
• Ensure consistent onboarding and refresher training for electrical safety, arc flash, PPE, and hazard recognition
• Promote a proactive culture focused on accountability, learning, and continuous improvement
• Design training that goes beyond compliance and includes leadership behaviors, hazard recognition, and human performance principles
• Coach supervisors and frontline leaders on ownership, accountability, and behavioral based practices

Cross functional and executive engagement
• Collaborate with Quality, Engineering, HR, and Operations to align safety with operational excellence
• Provide safety performance reporting to executive leadership and private equity stakeholders
• Support customer facing requirements, pre job planning, and contractor safety coordination

What success looks like
• Recordable and lost time rates trend down
• PEARL, NETA, and customer audits are completed successfully with strong closeout discipline
• Near miss reporting increases and corrective actions close on time
• Safety program adoption is consistent across operating companies
• Culture indicators improve and employees stay engaged

What we are looking for

Required
• 7 to 10 plus years of progressive safety or EHS experience in electrical services, power systems, industrial maintenance, or field service environments
• Strong working knowledge of OSHA, NFPA 70E, and electrical safety practices
• Working familiarity with NETA field service operations and high voltage or medium voltage environments
• Experience supporting multi site, field based operations
• Proven ability to influence technicians, supervisors, and senior leadership
• Detail oriented, organized, strong attitude, and team player

Preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field
• Certifications such as CSP, CHST, OSHA 30, or OSHA 500
• Experience supporting PEARL and or NETA accredited organizations
• Experience in private equity backed or multi operating company environments

Knowledge and skills
• Electrical and arc flash safety expertise
• Practical, operations oriented mindset
• Strong communication and training skills
• Data driven risk assessment and reporting
• Ability to balance compliance with operational efficiency
• Credibility with technicians, supervisors, and executives
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
• Ability to write procedures in a logical, methodical manner
• Strong time management and ability to multitask in a fast paced environment
• Ability to maintain confidentiality

Physical requirements
• Frequent walking
• Occasional reaching overhead, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling
• Occasional lifting up to 75 pounds, frequent lifting up to 50 pounds, and continuous lifting up to 25 pounds
