Job Description
Monday-Friday 8am-5pm
The Breaker Technician tests, troubleshoots, and repairs circuit breakers, ensuring proper operation of electrical and mechanical components. The role involves using test equipment, mentoring others, and supporting emergency jobs, all while maintaining safety and organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Test and troubleshoot electrical wiring.
- Ability to electrically operate a circuit breaker from a wiring schematic (charge, close, and trip).
- Ability to operate test equipment relevant to the breaker type.
- Ability to take electrical parts off a breaker and recondition them (aux switch, motor, relay, coils).
- Ability to make sure electric parts work properly before installing on a breaker.
- Mentor others in the department, share knowledge.
- Support onsite and emergency jobs when needed.
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical circuits safely and make repairs.
- Ability to travel to some job sites if needed after being trained.
- Ability to clean electrical parts.
- Ability to remove and reinstall electrical components on circuit breakers with documentation.
- Read the breaker evaluation and work order and perform the service the customer is requesting.
- Ability to disassemble circuit breakers.
- Ability to work safely on stored energy mechanisms.
- Mechanical ability to troubleshoot and repair circuit breakers.
- Read manuals and follow detailed instructions on adjusting equipment.
- Ensure that the correct work scope and important information has been followed on each job per the work order.
- Take ownership and responsibility to ensure each job is delivered on time.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school or equivalent GED certification.
- Pass E-Verify or other government eligibility screening.
- Pass a background check with no felony or serious misdemeanor convictions within the past 5 years.
- Ability to read a schematic, point to point, and one-line wiring diagram.
- Ability to use measuring tools (Vernier caliper, micrometer, tape measure, etc.).
- Mechanically inclined, must have your own tools.
- Willingness to help keep the Breaker department neat, clean, and organized.
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems and repair.
- Must have the ability to maintain good housekeeping of your designated work area.
- Ability and willingness to read and study OEM manuals and technical literature.
- Detailed oriented, great attitude, team player, well organized.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- High school or equivalent GED certification.
- Mechanically inclined, must have your own tools.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Capable of lifting 50-pounds.
- Ability to work 50+ hours a week, weekends, and support emergencies as needed.
- Ability to operate machinery (this is a plus but not necessary).
- Ability to travel to some job sites if needed after being trained.
- Ability to work in physically demanding environments, including lifting, bending, and handling heavy equipment.
