Job Description

Monday-Friday 8AM - 5PM

Responsible for providing complete fabrication ready mechanical designs and documentation of electrical products utilizing SolidWorks 3D CAD software in support of our low and medium voltage electrical distribution and control equipment life extension business.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Working closely with others in the engineering department, as well as fabrication, machine shop and production personnel, to maintain an up-to-date record of all products and component parts manufactured.
  • Identify like components and group them into retrievable drawing sets for ease of retrieval/review.
  • Maintain a clear and concise drawing log of all documentation (past/present/future), ensuring its accuracy and integrity.
  • Provide fabrication ready designs for sheet metal and machining.
  • Work with production technicians to document custom product modifications without impeding production flow or scheduling.
  • Provide fixture design and assist in the development of facilities equipment.
  • Participate in “on site dimensional visits” where physical information is gathered and documented to complete product modifications.
  • Maintain product and company reputation by complying with government regulations and all compelling industry standards.
  • Prepare calculations as needed.
  • Occasionally the ideal candidate will be required to assist production in emergency situations requiring weekend hours or overnight stays.

May be modified from time to time. Other duties, tasks and work may be assigned

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
  • Strong electrical skills.
  • Strong mechanical skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Clear written and verbal communications.
  • Organize and write procedures in a logical/methodical manner.
  • Good time management skills; be able to multi-task
  • Able to work at fast pace
  • Work well in a team environment.
  • Strength of materials
  • Able to perform SolidWorks Software IT Updates and patches when necessary.

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
  • 5 years’ prior experience using SolidWorks.
  • Prior switchgear/switchboard design experience highly preferred

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Occasional reaching/working overhead, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling
  • Frequent walking
  • Continuous standing and repetitive hand motion
  • Lifting requirements include occasional lifting up to 75 pounds, frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds and continuous lifting of up to 25 pounds.
