Precise Systems is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the Vertical Launch System (VLS) Launcher Support Equipment (LSE) Engineering Branch at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division (NSWC PHD). The position will consist of serving as a member of the LSE Team and providing mechanical engineering support for the MK41 and MK57 Vertical Launching System (VLS) In-Service Engineering Agent (ISEA) Programs.
Duties:
- Assist in the analysis of canister, deluge, etc. support equipment, both mechanical and electromechanical, failures.
- Determine failure root cause of equipment failures and determine corrective action and mitigation procedures.
- Create and update Technical Data Packages (TDPs) for Launcher Support equipment as required.
- Create and process TDP Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) for Launcher Support equipment as required.
- Create and process Notice of Revisions (NORs) for Launcher Support equipment as required.
Required Experience:
- 5+ years hands-on experience in mechanical hardware design and troubleshooting
- Must be familiar with common tools.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and techniques.
- Strong experience with SolidWorks.
- Excellent mechanical debugging skills are required.
- Knowledge of Department of the Navy (DoN) TDP, NOR, and ECP processes.
- Experience as an instructor or teacher is a plus.
- Competency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.) is required.
Required Education:
- BSME or equivalent engineering degree required.
- Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering will be considered.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to lift at least 25lbs.
- Ability to travel up to 25%.
- Able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
- Valid driver’s license for possible CONUS travel.
- Current U.S. passport for possible OCONUS travel.
- Ability to learn quickly and work independently.
- High degree of self-motivation.
- Self-starter willing to work in a team environment.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.

Compensation at Precise Systems is determined by various factors, including education, experience, skills, competencies, and contract-specific requirements. The salary range for this position is $77,571.36 to $116,357.04 (annualized USD). This range represents the standard pay for this role and is just one component of Precise Systems’ total compensation package.
