The Department of Biology in the Petree College of Arts and Sciences at Oklahoma City University is seeking two tenure track assistant or associate professors whose innovative and creative instruction will complement and enhance the department’s pre-health profession related programs. 

While areas of specialization are open, preference will be given to applicants who are broadly trained and who can contribute to teaching in a wide range of course offerings in the department.  Subject areas of teaching that are of particular importance to the department include human anatomy and physiology, introductory and general microbiology, introductory and advanced biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, genetics, and others that complement the pre-health profession related curriculum. 

The search committee is especially interested in candidates who, through their teaching, scholarship, and/or service, will contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community. The Department of Biology is interested in candidates who understand of the barriers facing women and people of color in higher education and bring a perspective that comes from a non-traditional educational background or understanding of the experiences under-represented populations.

Review of applications will begin March 1, 2022 and continue until the positions are filled, with a start date of August 2022. 

Qualifications

A terminal degree in a field closely related to the discipline and previous college teaching experience is preferred.  Individuals with ABD will be considered.  Compensation, rank, and length of tenure track will be commensurate with experience.

Duties

Duties of these positions include teaching 21 credit hours annually, supervising undergraduate research projects, academic advising, active participation in departmental, college, and university service, active participation in the department's assessment program, and in student recruiting and retention efforts for the college and the university.
