The VP of Merchandising will define the future of SpinLife’s product strategy and champion a consumer-first approach to merchandising by creating assortments that inspire consumers, fuel innovation, and drive profitable growth across both e-commerce and new retail formats.

JOB PURPOSE:

The Vice President of Merchandising is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive product and assortment strategy that drives omnichannel growth across DTC e-commerce and physical retail (corporate and franchise stores). This leader will be instrumental in enhancing gross margin, optimizing product mix, and delivering customer-centric merchandising solutions tailored to the unique needs of the DME industry.

The VP will collaborate cross-functionally to deliver seamless customer experiences and scalable merchandising systems that support both consumer and referral-based purchasing journeys.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

§  Lead and own the development and execution of a three-year strategic roadmap focused on category expansion, product innovation, and identification of Whitespace opportunities.

§  Develop customer-first assortment strategies for both online and in-store channels — optimized by format, geography, and consumer segments.

§  Introduce a clear cadence for line reviews, seasonal updates, and product lifecycle management.

§  Conduct competitive benchmarking and trend analysis across the DME landscape to inform assortment decisions.

§  Lead product assortment strategy for the e-commerce channel, ensuring conversion-driving PDPs, filters, taxonomy, and navigation.

§  Develop white label product strategy to differentiate ourselves in the market place and bring enhanced margin opportunities for DTC, stores & franchisees.

§  Establish best-in-class online merchandising standards in partnership with Digital and Marketing teams.

§  Utilize digital analytics to refine product strategy, optimize sell-through, and improve digital shelf performance.

§  Champion personalization and dynamic merchandising initiatives to support diverse customer needs.

§  Design scalable, franchise-ready assortment packages tailored to store footprints, and regional demand.

§  Build go-to-market plans that align product, marketing, and retail calendars.

§  Define in-store merchandising standards that support equipment trials, and ADA-compliant layouts.

§  Collaborate with Retail Development to ensure store layouts and fixtures support merchandising strategy.

§  Own gross margin and mix improvement strategies through price tiering, vendor negotiations, product mix optimization, and markdown control.

§  Build margin plans by category and channel, with clear accountability metrics.

§  Partner with Finance to model pricing scenarios, assess promotional impact, and manage inventory risk for high-cost DME items.

§  Cross-Functional Collaboration

§  Partner with:

        Marketing to align campaigns with product priorities and ensure compelling storytelling online and in-store.

        Digital & Technology to improve PDP quality, navigation, search relevance, and conversion optimization.

        Retail Ops to align inventory and floor sets with assortment strategy.

        Finance for forecasting, inventory turn, and performance against contribution goals.

        Supply Chain to ensure vendor readiness, regulatory compliance, and timely product availability.

§  Lead and structure the merchandising team for scale, including digital-first merchandising capabilities and omnichannel alignment.

§  Assess current team capabilities and develop succession planning and upskilling strategies, including clinical merchandising knowledge.

§  Provide mentorship and clarity for category managers and planners, ensuring each owns performance KPIs and channel-specific strategies.

§  Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.

§  Utilize Numotion Leadership Principles to perform job with integrity, compliance, and values consistent with Numotion’s mission.

§  Adhere to employee or customer confidentiality and comply with Numotion’s policies and federal regulations.

§  Always provide excellent customer service for all internal and external customers of the operations. Provide solutions for customer concerns and continually focus on customer service as our top priority.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:

§  Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing or equivalent work experience in a related field.

§  Minimum of (10) years progressive management/leadership experience.

§  Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in merchandising, category management, or product strategy, ideally within healthcare, medical devices, or DME

§  Highly skilled in Ecommerce platforms (.Net/Angular, Shopify, Magento, or alike) and order management systems.

§  At least five (5) years’ experience in operational activities.

§  Proficient understanding of financial reporting and business metrics.

§  Proven ability to develop and execute multi-year category growth strategies

§  Experienced in defining, tracking, and analyzing KPIs, benchmarking performance, and driving continuous improvement.

  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and coaching abilities, with a talent for influencing decision-makers and resolving complex issues. 
  • Highly organized, with strong written and verbal communication skills and a proactive, execution-oriented mindset.
  • Demonstrated strength in risk assessmentproblem-solving, and navigating ambiguity with resilience and strategic focus.

§  Frequent use of hands, wrists, fingers associated with computer equipment.

§  Ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds.

§  Ability to travel up to 25% to manufactures, corporate headquarters, stores, and out of country to review production.
