Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a H. C. Clerical Support - Per Diem - Chemical Dependency Outpatient - Per Diem - 5PM - 8PM Monday's & Wednesday's, 9AM-12PM Thursday's.
In this role, the successful candidate Assumes responsibility for the clerical functions of Outpatient Behavioral Health Services.
Job Responsibilities:
Provision of Support Services
- Organizes all office operations: clerical and administrative functions such as billing, intake, reception and typing. Maintains sufficient workflow by evaluating productivity and revising schedules accordingly.
- Supervises billing procedures for outpatient services, including third party correspondence, certifications, and follow-up of non-payment of bills.
- Assumes primary responsibility for keeping accurate records for the State, county, and hospital by collating and compiling statistical information for daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
- Responsible for duplicating and distributing, requesting and receiving, patient records to and from other agencies.
- Requisitions office supplies, equipment, materials, and forms as necessary.
- Maintains attendance records.
- Provides varied clerical duties when necessary, including reception, operating computers, data collection, and photocopying.
- Maintains Petty Cash Fund, ensuring accuracy and replenishing as needed under guidance of Program Manager.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a High School diploma or equivalency with basic literacy and knowledge of general medical terminology, supervisory, or office management experience.
Continued education through medical records seminars, workshops. Participation in departmental meetings, in-services and attention to Behavioral Health Services memoranda.
Good interpersonal skills, demonstrable in interactions with staff, administrators, patients, and visitors.
Ability to concentrate, pay attention to detail, and analytic skill, demonstrable through data collection, scheduling and the like.
Ability to walk and stand for at least 50 percent of the time to prepare and deliver records from one department to another
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience in a medical office setting

NYU Langone Hospital-Suffolk provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $17.19 - $24.72 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
