Nuclear Medicine Technologist (West Palm Beach, Florida)

Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist (West Palm Beach, Florida).
In this role, the successful candidate Responsible for performing medically prescribed nuclear medicine procedures. Works under general supervision to ensure high-quality diagnostic results while maintaining patient safety and regulatory compliance.
Job Responsibilities:
Patient Care & Procedure Execution
- Verify patient identity using approved protocols and review physician orders for accuracy
- Explain procedures clearly and obtain consent when required
- Prepare patients for procedures, ensuring comfort, privacy, and safety
- Administer radiopharmaceuticals and perform imaging and non-imaging procedures per established protocols
- Monitor patients throughout procedures and respond to any adverse reactions or emergencies
- Adjust imaging techniques and protocols based on patient condition and clinical indications
Imaging & Technical Responsibilities
- Operate nuclear medicine imaging equipment, including gamma cameras and related systems
- Acquire, process, and evaluate diagnostic images for quality and completeness
- Format, archive, and transmit imaging data to PACS in proper anatomical presentation
- Perform data analysis and provide results to physicians for interpretation
- Troubleshoot technical issues and adapt procedures to optimize diagnostic outcomes
Radiopharmaceutical & Radiopharmacy Duties
- Prepare, calculate, and verify radiopharmaceutical doses using appropriate techniques and dose calibrators
- Handle, store, and dispose of radioactive materials in accordance with safety regulations
- Perform generator elution and prepare radiopharmaceuticals per manufacturer guidelines
- Conduct wipe tests and ensure proper labeling and handling of radioactive materials
Radiation Safety & Compliance
- Adhere to all radiation safety protocols and regulatory requirements
- Minimize radiation exposure to patients, staff, and self
- Perform contamination surveys and decontamination procedures as required
- Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
Quality Control & Documentation
- Perform routine quality control checks on imaging equipment and dose calibrators
- Maintain accurate records of radiopharmaceutical preparation, administration, and disposal
- Document imaging procedures, patient interactions, and quality assurance activities
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of all required logs and reports
Systems & Workflow Management
- Utilize Hospital Information Systems (HIS), Radiology Information Systems (RIS), and PACS
- Accurately document patient workflow, including exam start, completion, and departure times
- Schedule and modify exams as needed within system workflows
- Maintain cleanliness and readiness of work areas and equipment
Collaboration & Support
- Assist physicians during procedures as needed
- Coordinate with healthcare team members to ensure efficient patient care
- Adapt workflow to accommodate STAT and emergency cases
- Recognize and escalate medical emergencies appropriately
Education & Additional Duties
- Provide guidance and supervision to students during clinical training
- Evaluate student performance and support skill development
- Perform other duties as assigned
Working Conditions / Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift, push, pull, or move patients and equipment (up to 150 lbs., with or without assistive devices)
- Prolonged standing and walking
- Exposure to radioactive materials (with appropriate safety controls)
- Flexible scheduling, including potential evenings, weekends, or on-call coverage .
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Associate's Degree or Certificate from an accredited School of Radiologic Technology. Must have a Florida Radiologic Technologist License in Nuclear Medicine. Must also have ARRT in Nuclear Medicine or NMTCB Certification.. A current Florida Nuclear Medicine Technologist License is required. In addition, certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Nuclear Medicine (ARRT-N) or certification from the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) is required BLS Certification..
Required Licenses: Nuc Med Technologist License, Nuclear Med Tech-RT (N)(ARRT), Nuclear Med Tech Cert (NMTCB)
Preferred Qualifications:
Completion of a Bachelors Degree or baccalaureate degree in nuclear medicine technology.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
