Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Research Associate.

We have an open position for a Research Associate in Dr. Hakhamanesh Mostafavi's lab at the Center for Human Genetics and Genomics, NYU School of Medicine. Our lab focuses on developing and applying theoretical and computational methods to analyze and interpret genetic data. Our primary goals are to (i) understand the genetic basis of complex traits and diseases, and (ii) enhance disease risk prediction and prevention. This position involves exploratory data analysis and conducting independent basic research under Dr. Mostafavi's mentorship. It offers an excellent opportunity to build a strong research portfolio, particularly for those planning to apply to medical or graduate school. Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop computational pipelines to analyze biobank-scale genetic and phenotypic data.
  • Perform exploratory data analyses to generate and test hypotheses.
  • Stay up-to-date with relevant scientific literature.
  • Participate in the preparation of figures and other materials for publications and grant proposals.
  • Maintain a record of all analyses in an electronic lab notebook.
  • Over time, design and pursue an independent research project.

 

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a To qualify you must have a College graduate with a B.S. or B.A. in Biomedical or Physical Sciences. A minimum commitment of two years is required and placement in position may not exceed three years.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization

Preferred Qualifications:
Degree in a quantitative discipline. Knowledge and experience in areas such as Computational Biology, Statistics, and Computer Science.
Bachelor's degree in life sciences. Solid foundation in genetics and biology. Strong programming skills (e.g., in R or Python). Experience with high-performance computing or cloud computing. Minimum commitment of two years.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $47,033.90 - $53,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
