Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Director of Finance - Sunset Park, Brooklyn.

The Director of Clinical Finance & Finance Site Leader is a member of the NYU Langone Health Finance leadership team and assumes responsibility for the clinical finance functions of the designated portfolio(s). This position services as a subject matter expert between Hospital Operations and the various Finance groups (Financial Reporting, Decision Support, Supply Chain, etc.). The Director of Clinical Finance & Finance Site Leader oversees the portfolios clinical finance staff and works with various departments and leadership to operationalize the financial goals and objective of the organization.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assumes responsibility and accountability for financial oversight of the designated portfolio(s).
  • Develops Clinical Mission Financial Analytics to communicate and analyze monthly and annual operational/financial results, including volume, revenue, and expense.
  • Coordinates with Departments and Executive Leadership in the development and evaluation of strategic business plans and resource proposals, ensuring accuracy of volume, expense, and revenue assumptions.
  • Coordinates with Departments on implementing staffing strategies that will reduce cost and/or improve efficiency.
  • Utilizes the Cost Accounting System and the General Ledger to develop standing and ad-hoc analyses to aid in decision making.
  • Oversees the monitoring of monthly expenses related to the designated portfolio(s), ensuring adherence to budget targets and goals of the organization. Approves unbudgeted expenses as needed in conjunction with leadership.
  • Serves as the Finance representative for various union contract negotiations and develops financials implications of such contracts.
  • Supports Department Leadership in management and use of PeopleSoft Financials and PeopleSoft HCM.
  • Manages the annual operating budget process, including projection of volume, revenue, and expense. Ensures annual operating budgets are sound and reflect the operational needs and strategic direction of the organization.
  • Takes a lead role, in collaboration with hospital leadership, to identify and implement opportunities to improve revenue cost efficiency.
  • Collaborates with Data Management to ensure system dictionaries and information systems are up-to-date.
  • Collaborates with Strategy, Planning, and Business Development to identify strategic business and market opportunities. Completes associated financial projections and participates in the regulatory filing process.
  • Manages the portfolio(s)s Finance team, including managers and analysts.
  • Reviews and approves monthly budget reclassifications to ensure sound budgeting, including ROI analysis.
  • Works with various Finance departments to streamline internal financial reports and reporting processes to deliver more efficient, effective reports and information.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify, you must have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration. 7 to 10 years minimum experience in a healthcare facility. Experience in General Ledger and Cost Accounting methodologies and budgeting systems. Experience dealing with other System Wide Employees outside of one's individual department with particular emphasis on interaction with Hospital Finance & Departmental Operational Managers. Other minimum qualifications includes: excellent oral and written communication skills, analytical skills, problem solving skills, and a comprehensive knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in Finance or related field.

View Know Your Rights: Workplace discrimination is illegal. NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $200,000 - $220,000 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
