Position Summary:


We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Grants Specialist.


The Senior Grants Specialist provides a high-level of pre-award and non-financial post-award grant support within Sponsored Research Operations - Integrated Support. The Senior Grants Specialist is responsible for working with the faculty to process and review grant applications, as well as tracking and reporting on active, pending, and planned grant applications, and submitting progress reports.

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

Provide pre-award support to faculty across several departments. This includes; completing all non-scientific portions of grant applications; leading budget development; gathering required documents from collaborators and subcontractor organizations, as needed; entering the grant into Research Navigator; working with the department and Sponsored Programs Administration to ensure the grant is submitted by the funder due date
Proactively communicate the application process and deadlines to Principal Investigators
Assist with gathering and compiling documents for Just-In-Time requests
Maintain a repository of documents that will ensure a more efficient grant submission process, such as biosketches and training tables, for departmental faculty
Assist in compiling and formatting biosketches and other support
Assist with award setup including; re-budgeting, gathering revised subcontract materials, reviewing the notice of award with the PI and study team, providing salary allocation information, setting up consulting agreements, and ensuring subawards are executed timely
Work with PIs to prepare and submit RPPRs in eRA Commons and Research Navigator including budgeting and gathering subcontract materials.
Work with PIs to prepare and submit non-standard progress reports, no cost extensions, and all continuation records
Serve as a resource to the research community related to sponsor requirements as well as institutional and departmental grants policy
Create and maintain grants-related reports at the department level including planned submissions, number of submissions, and priority scores for submitted grants
Assist in POD and institutional initiatives for pre-award standardization and tool development
Provide peer mentorship to new grant specialists
Provide training to new team members as needed
Perform other duties as assigned

 

Minimum Qualifications:


To qualify you must have a Experience working in a team-oriented environment with ability to take initiative and work independently
Proven ability to meet deadlines and produce high quality products
Thorough knowledge of pre- and post-award grants administration
Significant experience with federal, state, and local policies governing sponsored research
General knowledge of accounting, budgeting, and finance
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to support and work with a diverse group of faculty and staff, and interpersonal and problem-solving skills required
Ability to implement and interpret policies and procedures and communicate sensitive information verbally and in writing to a diverse population
Ability to assess situations and provide solutions to mitigate problems or issues during grants submission process
Demonstrated ability to work independently
Related experience in an academic research administration environment strongly preferred

 

Preferred Qualifications:


Expertise in Microsoft Office software

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $70,481.61 - $106,180.20 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
