Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Specialist (Registered Nurse)-Periop Informatics.
In this role, the successful candidate Responsible for analyzing and building the Epic OpTime master files to support preference cards and accurate procedure list. Gathers the required preference card supporting data from the sites, analyze the data to determine what needs to be loaded into OpTime, prepare the data for import and then ensure the imported data is correct.
Job Responsibilities:
- Initiates professional development plan to improve and sustain clinical and leadership competency.
- Responsible for partnering with clinical leadership and staff within the perioperative services system wide, to ensure continuous improvement of preference card/procedure list and information integrity within the EPIC OpTime environment.
- Provide support, analysis, information validation, and applicable training to Physicians, clinical staff and the leadership team in the ongoing creation and maintenance of preference cards and procedure lists.
- Educate and support new RNs in the maintenance and setup of preference cards for the department and provide feedback to clinical leadership on issues regarding information integrity as it relates to their clinical environment/ team.
- Responsible for: Running reports, Reporting information routinely to various department leaders across the system. Submit requests and validates information for report built through, EPIC, and other systems. Required to document clinical workflows for supply and tray usage as well as supply returns/waste.
- Maintain the procedure list in EPIC-OpTime in collaboration with Service Specialist/Clinical Coordinators. Promote standardization of preference cards with users. Serve on committees to promote the efficient communication of materials, clinical practice, and preference card information within the various clinical sites.

- Create, modify, and delete preference cards for the health system. Work towards system wide standardized base cards.
- Maintain the procedure list in EPIC-OpTime in collaboration with Service Specialist and other Clinical Coordinators.
- Maintain the surgery equipment list in collaboration with Clinical Engineering.
- Identify needed updates to the medication preference lists.
- Provide support to site-based preference card champions and facilitate their understanding of preference card workflows. Work with OpTime credentialed trainers as needed for design of educational materials.
- Run reports in support of preference card operational needs.
- Interpret and analyze systems, data, and information with supervision.
- Works closely with Central Sterile Processing and Supply Chain Management and understands the respective departments applications (SPM and PeopleSoft).
- Work collaboratively with site clinical staff, management, surgeons, proceduralists, supply chain management personnel, and other teams for preference card management.
- Assists in presentations to project teams and management.
- Complete moderately complex tasks and portions of larger information system projects with direction.
- Update system, operational, and department documentation.
- Recommend areas for process improvement and Lean Management engagement.
- Adhere to organizational policies and procedures and, follow all change control processes defined within EPIC.
- Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
- Collaborates with the leadership in identifying, addressing, and utilizing available resources to meet the learning needs of professional and ancillary staff members.
- Participates in developing the unit milieu supportive of education and development of the nursing staff and other health care providers, consistent with the goals of a learning organization.
- Facilitates attendance and participation by staff in educational offerings.
- Participates in evaluating the effectiveness of education and development activities in achieving desired outcomes.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Licensure: Current Registered Professional Nurse in New York;Education: Baccalaureate degree in Nursing and CNOR requiredMasters in Informatics preferred. Competencies: Perioperative nurse with 5 years experience. EPIC-opTime recent experience 3 years. Proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel software..
Required Licenses: Registered Nurse License-NYS

Membership in pertinent professional organizations preferred

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $135,199.99 - $171,874.96 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
