Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Administrative Coordinator-OR Central Scheduling-Day Shift (35 Hours).
In this role, the successful candidate The Administrative Coordinator will serve as a lead OR scheduler who oversees and facilitates the booking of surgical cases across multiple sites. He/she/they will monitor key performance indicators, assist with block time management, support personnel actions, and contribute to departmental operations and staff development. Serves as lead OR scheduler to medical secretaries/OR schedulers but not limited to, handling problems, issues, and questions as they arise. Assists with oversight of OR schedule, facilitates surgical booking of cases for Tisch, Kimmel, HCC2, ACC, and Cobble Hill sites, and collaborates with surgical offices and nursing leaders to optimize schedule. Helps monitor various statistical data relative to first case start times, turn over times, block time, etc. for the perioperative-procedural services and communicates to respective unit staff, hospital wide staff as appropriate, and senior management. Works with senior management to develop policies, procedures and work flows. Participates in developing and implementing department goals. Assists OR Central Scheduling Nurse Manager in managing internal release of block time for a department according to prescribed schedule. Maintains and monitors surgical block time to keep utilization at a high standard, advises surgeon of unused time, and releases the unused time to prevent loss of department's block time. Assists to ensure departmental compliance with all provisions of Joint Commission and other regulatory bodies. Assist OR Central Scheduling Nurse Manager with personnel actions including, but not limited to, hiring, coaching, performance appraisals, promotions and grievance resolution. Participates in hospital-wide initiatives. Assists with payroll responsibilities, PTO approvals, and review vacation requests. Assists with the operation of the department, promote effective teamwork that results in high quality, cost effective, and coordinated services that meet the needs of the patients and clinicians aligning with HRO (High Reliability Organization) principles. Help in the managing and maintaining of regular staff meetings, provide visibility to staff, participate in intra-departmental committees, and collaborate with other services. Assist in assessing departmental needs, and provide recommendations to the OR Central Scheduling Nurse Manager. Train new staff members and maintain competencies of staff. Serve as a leader and mentor to medical secretaries. Update and maintain training manual that is accessible to all trainees. Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelor's Degree required with 2 years of relevant experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience. The successful candidate must also possess excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication, and organizational skills. Knowledge of standard office software is essential, including proficiency with word-processing, spreadsheet and database software (e.g., Microsoft Office, preferred). Ability to multi-task and/or coordinate multiple assignments is required. Ability to interpret and implement policies and procedures, and effectively communicate detailed information to a diverse population, both verbally and in writing; excellent problem-solving skills is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in operating room, supervisory, scheduling, surgical operations, logistics, Microsoft Excel, and autonomy. Strong collaboration and communication skills between multiple departments, hospitals and customers with the ability to lead, coach, and mentor staff.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $66,299.99 - $100,281.30 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
