Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Financial Analyst.
The Financial Analyst (FA) serves as a member of the Reporting & Grants Management Team, and is responsible for post award activities and tasks that facilitate timely reporting, billing and closeout of sponsored awards at NYULH. This individual will also provide support in the submission of financial reports and grants management oversight as related to sponsor reporting deliverables grants and contracts. This includes, but is not limited to sponsored projects management, research accounting and sponsor reporting.
Job Responsibilities:
Position Specific:
- Performs regular reconciliation of sponsored projects in preparation of sponsor reporting deliverables and project closeouts; this includes but is not limited to: reconciliation of fringe, F&A, review of unallowable expenses and alignment of expenses against approved and authorized budget.
- Reviews award agreements to ensure compliance with financial reporting and invoicing requirements.
- Reviews prepared Reporting & Closeout packages by departments for final submission of financial requirements to sponsors.
- Prepares final reporting format and back-up documentation for sponsor submission of financial deliverables including final confirmation of reporting information, sponsor requirements and format.
- Ensures timely and complete submission of financial reports, invoices and project close-outs.
- Assists in process improvements and implementation of new business plans and efficiencies to overall Grant Management process.
- Monitors the Research Finance Reporting Mailbox and processes the associated requests which includes Prior Approval Forms, Advance Account Forms, and Carryover.
- Provides backup and assistance to Post Award Team Leads as needed.
Financial Controls and Compliance:
Perform work within the established goals and objectives for Research Financial Operations:
- Sponsored project costs are managed in accordance with institutional policies and sponsor terms and conditions
- Monthly financial close is accurate and timely
- All Sponsors financial contract terms are met
- All projects granted and contracted funds are collected in a timely manner
- The Uniform Guidance audit with no material findings

Monitoring, Quality Control, Reporting and Record Keeping
- Maintains accessible documentation related to post award activities and respective portfolio.
- Provides guidance and departmental support related to the management and monitoring of sponsored research grants.

- Follows all SLAs and Procedures.
- Exceptions are managed and resolved. Root cause analyses are preformed when appropriate.
- Practices Continuous Improvement.
Communications
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff, peers, senior management and faculty.
- Positively represents the Institution when dealing with sponsors, outside institutions.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelor Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field, with 1-3 years relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Superior communication skills, both written and verbal.
Possess strong customer service and problem solving skill sets.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in business, finance or other appropriate discipline with at least 3 years of relevant financial and grants management experience, or a combination of comparable education and experience.
The Financial Analyst should have a comprehensive understanding of research administration with in-depth knowledge of research regulatory requirements, specifically the Uniform Administrative Requirements.
Excellent Excel experience preferred.
Experience with Enterprise Systems. PeopleSoft or Oracle preferred.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $66,299.99 - $76,685.70 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
