Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Supervisor, Ultrasound Technology (FGP) - OB/GYN.

This position is 50% clinical (performing OBGYN ultrasounds) and 50% administrative. Provide ongoing supervision of the Ultrasound division. Provide oversight of the day to day operations. Assist with problem solving and practice development. Work in collaboration with the clinical leadership, administration, nurses and faculty to implement policies to improve operations in OBGYN.

Job Responsibilities:

  • ORGANIZATIONAL SERVICES-CLINICAL/TECHNICAL/SERVICE - Plans, performs, coordinates, and schedules the activities of ultrasound. Participate in the interdisciplinary planning for patient care with the faculty and staff. Participate in planning and administers sonography. Perform OBGYN-related ultrasounds and procedures as delineated by faculty. Perform designated procedures.
  • Assist with ultrasound schedules, appointment cycles, staffing models, template management, PTO requests, waitlist, facilitate weekly huddles and monthly meetings.
  • ADDITIONAL PERFORMANCE STANDARDS - Adheres to the rules and regulations of the department and the Medical Center concerning safety, conduct, etc. as outlined in the Employee Staff Handbook. Maintains a professional appearance; wears an identification badge at all times.
  • ATTENDANCE / RELIABILITY - Provides proper notification for absences or tardiness. Arrives at work, on time, as scheduled. Does not abuse sick time. Adheres to departmental guidelines concerning sick time, vacation, personal day, and other paid/unpaid leaves.
  • PLANNING AND TIME UTILIZATION - Prioritizes work effectively to facilitate the orderly, accurate, and timely completion of assignments. Adjusts to schedule changes, changes in workload, workflow, and priorities.
  • INITIATIVE - Recognizes when help is needed by others and offers guidance and assistance. Demonstrates independent thinking. Makes suggestions for positive change. Performs assigned duties spontaneously with little direct supervision, guidance or reminders. Demonstrates an active interest in improving current level of skill and knowledge by pursuing higher education or attaining new skills.
  • JUDGEMENT / DECISION-MAKING - Employ good judgment and decision capabilities when taking corrective actions, recommending modifications and implementing changes. Maintains patient and employee confidentiality. Carefully analyzes situations, considering all pertinent information available to make informed decisions using independent judgment. Reaches conclusions based on logical and thoughtful analysis of facts and alternatives. Makes decisions in a timely manner.
  • PROFESSIONAL / ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT - Takes proactive steps toward professional and organizational development of staff. Implements performance improvement activities within the department. Coordinates activities and workshops to support an environment of development and learning in accordance with the vision of the department. Assist in Training of staff and clearly explains proper work procedures, methods and office policy. Participates in the development of other staff members through mentoring, coaching and training.Takes proactive steps toward professional development. Participates in educational activities conferences, seminars and professional organizations as appropriate.
  • PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT ACTIVITIES - Recognizes routine problems and recommends ideas and solutions. Advises when follow-up or management intervention is required. Mentors staff, follows up and ensures assignments are completed. Selects, orients and evaluates staff, provides initial and on-going guidance. Resolves employee issues and addresses procedure and performance related issues. Implement and monitor compliance to regulatory guidelines and take corrective actions where appropriate. Oversee all QI and QA activities related to Ultrasound.
  • FACILITY OPERATIONS - Order and maintain par levels for supplies, equipment and linen. Ensure equipment is maintained in a clean manner and properly functioning.
  • FINANCE SUPPORT / BILLING RELATED ACTIVITIES - Assists the Practice and Billing Manager with charge capture. Completes all epic and syngo requirements to allow for accurate billing. Assists the Practice and Billing Manager with policies and procedures related to capturing of all clinical service charges.
  • MANAGERIAL / SUPERVISION OF STAFF - Oversee ultrasound operations. Manages the day-to-day ultrasound operations of the clinical practice. Provides oversight of daily activities. Prioritizes needs, allocates staff based on skills and ability to meet objectives. Delegates and distributes work assignments Adjusts work schedules of staff on a day-to-day basis and as needs change. Assures satisfactory completion of all assigned duties. Work in collaboration with the faculty and administrator to identify staffing needs: assists with interview, hiring, discipline and termination. Evaluate job performance. Reviews attendance of employees and discuss issues of excessive absences or lateness. Assist in the implementation of office policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Additional Position Specific Responsibilities:
Staff development/leadership: Assist with hiring, training, performance appraisals, continuing education, and monthly workshops
Clinical Duties: Perform ultrasound scans and procedures, serve as clinical liaison for clinical policies/protocols and sonographer development with clinical stakeholders
Equipment Management: Ensure annual maintenance is completed and ad hoc servicing issues are addressed
Quality Assurance: CLEP certification maintenance, AIUM accreditation renewals and maintenance; Manage employee credentials/licensure
Supply Ordering Oversight: Serve as backup for supply chain and/or Ultrasound leads

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a High School Diploma or Equivalent. Undergraduate degree preferred. Registered by American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS). Knowledge of ultrasonography in a practice based setting. Excellent organizational, analytical, communication, managerial and interpersonal skills required. Broad knowledge of academic and healthcare industry preferred. Excellent computer skills required. Must be able to transition between assignments and be capable of working under minimal supervision. 5 years experience in ultrasound.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelors degree, 5 years of OBGYN ultrasound experience, 3 years of supervisory experience

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $70,481.61 - $121,580.64 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
