Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Director-Education. The Director for Education is responsible for providing managerial leadership for the education and academic affairs activities in the Department of Pediatrics. This individual works directly with and reports to the Vice Chair of Education, the Vice Chair for Academic Affairs as well as the Department Administrator. The Director works with executive leadership to develop and implement strategic goals for the departments educational and academic missions and manages all aspects of educational and academic operations in the domains listed below. The Director supervises a team of residency, fellowship, clerkship, and administrative coordinators, and serves as liaison to the NYU Graduate and Undergraduate Medical Education Offices.
Job Responsibilities:
- Directly supervise the residency training coordinators, the fellowship program manager and coordinators and UME coordinator and partner with education leadership to enhance and strengthen our programs.
- Create a positive environment that fosters collaboration, dedication and teamwork within the programs under the education mission.
- Serve as resource/partner for Vice Chair for Education and Faculty Affairs related to: a. Development and tracking of strategic goals and metrics. b. Identification and implementation of operational enhancements/programs. c. Oversee evaluation process for training programs and individual faculty and trainees and related administrative and business requirements.
- Supports with Residency and Fellowship Program Directors.
- Support trainee recruitment efforts including website, blogs, printed material, etc.
- Serve as resource/liaison for trainees and assist with on-boarding and provide necessary support throughout training.
- Oversee and manage the various budgets within the education mission.
- Serve as a liaison between education leadership and staff and department administration and other SOM Departments as appropriate.
- As a member of the department administrative leadership team, develop and support interfaces across mission areas within the department of Pediatrics.
- Serve as the liaison between the Faculty Affairs Office and the Department of Pediatrics regarding matters related to faculty appointments.
- Assist Chair of the department and the Vice Chair for Academic Affairs in all matters pertaining to appointments, promotions, and tenure.
- Interface with other departments and affiliate institutions regarding joint/associated appointments.
- Serve as the key resource within the Department of Pediatrics regarding all aspects of faculty appointments.
- Ensure compliance with the rules and regulations governing the faculty at the School of Medicine.
- Coordinate, maintain, and monitor the progress/completion of paperwork related to new appointments, promotions, tenure, and changes in status.
- Coordinate communication with Department faculty and new recruits regarding appointments, promotions, tenure and mentoring.
- Coordinate and manage the annual faculty reappointment process.
- Build, manage, and maintain database for all members of the faculty and generate statistics and reports as requested the Department Chair, Vice-Chair for Education, Vice Chair for Academic Affairs, Administrator, and divisions.
- Coordinate, maintain, and monitor the progress of mentoring committees and submission of annual reports for members of the full-time faculty per faculty affairs guidelines.
- Attend, manage the calendar, agenda, files, and minutes for the Department of Pediatrics Appointments & Promotions Committee.
- Supports the organization and structure of all CME events organized and help by the department of pediatrics, including he weekly grand rounds.
- Implement annual CME event focusing on AAP priorities (ending childhood poverty, reducing health inequities, reducing gun violence).
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of applicable experience in healthcare administration and/or medical education. Supports with Residency and Fellowship Program Directors. Serve as resource/liaison for trainees and assist with on-boarding and provide necessary support throughout training.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree within healthcare or management; 8+ years of experience in medical education/administration; and/or previous GME leadership with TAGME Certification.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $121,792.22 - $210,091.64 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
