Position Summary:


We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Associate Research Coordinator.

The Associate Research Coordinator (part-time) will support a multidisciplinary NIH- and foundation-funded study investigating sleep-related cortical hyperexcitability as an early biomarker of Alzheimers disease (AD). This innovative project integrates overnight polysomnography (PSG), wideband EEG (WB-EEG), PET imaging (amyloid and tau), plasma and CSF biomarkers, and sleep-dependent memory testing in cognitively unimpaired older adults. Associate Research Coordinator will play a central role in coordinating sleep laboratory visits, assisting with wideband EEG acquisition, supporting EEG preprocessing maintaining regulatory documentation, and contributing to data management and quality control. This position offers hands-on exposure to advanced sleep neurophysiology, Alzheimers biomarker research, and translational neuroscience.

Job Responsibilities:

Participant Coordination & Study Visits
Contact and schedule participants for overnight PSG and wideband EEG studies
Coordinate with NYU and NKI Sleep Labs for evening and weekend recordings
Assist with informed consent procedures and regulatory documentation
Administer pre- and post-sleep memory tasks (e.g., paired associates)
Ensure compliance with IRB and data privacy requirements
EEG & Polysomnography Support
Assist sleep technologists with WB-EEG setup (1020 system electrode placement)
Verify electrode impedance (<5 k) and signal quality
Monitor recording sessions when needed
Assist in quality control review of overnight recordings
Help prepare datasets for epileptiform activity (EA) and high-frequency oscillation (HFO) analysis
Data Management & Processing
Organize and maintain large multimodal datasets (EEG, PET, plasma, CSF, cognitive data)
Assist with EEG preprocessing (artifact rejection, re-referencing, segmentation)
Support annotation of EEG data for machine-learning training sets
Maintain REDCap and secure data systems
Research & Analytical Support
Assist with literature reviews and figure preparation
Contribute to abstract and manuscript preparation
Help prepare materials for conferences and grant reports
Participate in lab meetings and collaborative discussions with investigators

 

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelor's degree in neuroscience, psychology, biomedical engineering, biology, or related field and 0-1 years experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Effective oral, written, communication, interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Prior experience working with older adult research participants preferred
Interest in sleep research, EEG, or neurodegenerative disease preferred
Ability to work evenings or weekends for overnight sleep recordings
Proficiency in Excel and basic data management

Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with MATLAB, Python, or R preferred
Experience in clinical research coordination preferred
Interest in pursuing graduate or medical training preferred
Knowledge of basic medical terminology is preferred. Prior experience working with Research Protocols. Experience working in an academic medical center environment

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $36.42 - $36.42 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
