Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Sr. Financial Analyst.

In this role, the successful candidate as the Senior Financial Analyst reports to the Manager of Clinical Finance for Tisch/Kimmel, Rusk, and LOH Finance Mission within NYU Langone 
Hospital and provides day-to-day support on clinical finance activities. This role is responsible for a wide range of financial analyses, including
financial reporting, budgeting, data analysis, staffing model development, and initiatives to improve efficiency and productivity. Additionally, the
Senior Financial Analyst will analyze clinical data to develop actionable insights and analytics for clinical stakeholders.
The position requires close collaboration with clinical departments to build strong relationships, understand budget assumptions, investigate
financial variances (volume, revenue, and expenses), and deliver strategic recommendations to enhance operational and financial performance.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Utilize cost accounting system (EPSi) to analyze profit and loss, contribution margins, payor rates, and trends for both inpatient and outpatient populations. Identify key areas of opportunities for revenue generation and cost efficiency.
  • Partner with hospital operations to review monthly volume and expense variances, identifying root causes and actionable solutions
  • Provide monthly budget performance analytics by identifying causes and reasons behind revenue and expense variances and communicating findings effectively
  • Investigates causes of variance with respective departments to identify operational and financial opportunities
  • Utilizes the General Ledger (PeopleSoft) to provide budgetary and actual information using trends and projections.
  • Work with Clinical Departments to create staffing models as well as analyses related to patient volume.
  • Manages the NYU Hospitals Clinical Capital budget requests to ensure that the requests are aligned to the patient needs while ensuring that the capital budget is fiscally managed.
  • Assists in analytics that will include supporting strategic planning - long range forecast assumptions.
  • Support annual and monthly operating budget planning processes.
  • Review Monthly Budget Reclassifications to ensure sound budgeting and to align the staffing needs with volume trajectory. This includes ROI and detailed justifications to ensure that the Hospitals' Operating Margin is not affected by these requested changes.
  • Review and track Human Capital Management (HCM) transactions to verify alignment between volume demand and staffing levels.
  • Incorporate new technologies, systems and processes to improve the daily operations of the Department.
  • Provide timely and accurate support for special projects assigned by the Senior Director or Director of Clinical Finance.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelors Degree with a major in a business subject (Finance, Accounting, Economics) or related area, and 2 years of related experience. Excellent oral and written communication, analytical, and problem solving skills. Comprehensive knowledge of Excel, including pivot tables, vlookups, charts, and other application functions.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in Tableau, Alteryx, or similar analytic tools.

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $84,577.92 - $97,650.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
