Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Technical Supervisor, Radiology - Manhattan - Cancer Center.
The Technical Supervisor Radiology is responsible for the day-to-day technical and clinical supervision of assigned radiology sections or modalities. This role provides direct oversight of technologists, supports daily operations, and ensures compliance with departmental policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
Reporting to the Technical Manager of Radiology, the Technical Supervisor serves as a first-line leader and resource for staff, assisting with workflow coordination, staff performance, patient safety, and service quality. The role focuses on operational execution rather than strategic or capital planning.
Job Responsibilities:
Clinical & Operational Supervision
- Supervises daily technical operations within assigned radiology sections to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care.
- Coordinates daily staffing assignments and workflow to meet operational needs.
- Monitors patient flow, image quality, and adherence to clinical protocols.
- Serves as a resource for technologists regarding procedures, policies, and problem resolution.
- Escalates operational, staffing, or patient care issues to management as appropriate.
Quality & Performance Support
- Monitors imaging procedures to ensure compliance with physician orders, departmental protocols, and quality standards.
- Identifies workflow or performance issues and initiates corrective actions in collaboration with management.
- Participates in quality assurance activities, audits, and incident reviews.
- Reinforces adherence to departmental policies, procedures, and best practices.
Staffing & Performance Management
- Assists with onboarding, orientation, and training of new staff.
- Provides day-to-day supervision, coaching, and feedback to technologists.
- Participates in performance evaluations by providing input to management.
- Addresses minor performance or conduct issues and escalates disciplinary matters as needed.
- Supports scheduling, timekeeping, and coverage adjustments in coordination with management.
Equipment & Supplies
- Monitors proper use and basic maintenance of imaging equipment.
- Reports equipment issues, service needs, or supply shortages to management.
- Ensures work areas and equipment are maintained in a clean, safe, and operational condition.
- Assists with inventory tracking and supply management at the unit or section level.
Regulatory Compliance & Safety
- Ensures staff compliance with regulatory, safety, and infection control standards.
- Supports quality control documentation and reporting requirements.
- Collaborates with management and the Radiation Safety Officer to maintain compliance with radiation safety policies.
- Participates in regulatory surveys, inspections, and audits as assigned.
Collaboration & Communication
- Works closely with technologists, nursing staff, radiologists, and support teams to support departmental operations.
- Communicates expectations, workflow changes, and operational updates clearly to staff.
- Assists with addressing patient concerns and service recovery efforts.
Professional Responsibilities
- Maintains clinical competency and supervisory skills.
- Demonstrates professionalism, accountability, and sound judgment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelors Degree required
Graduate of an AMA-approved school of Radiologic Technology, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, or Nuclear Medicine (as applicable)
New York State License in Radiologic Technology or Ultrasound (as applicable)
Current registration with ARRT, ARDMS, or equivalent credentialing body
Minimum of three (3) years of progressive leadership experience
In lieu of leadership experience, six (6) years of clinical experience as a technologist will be accepted.
Required Licenses: Radiologic TechLic IV-Cert-NYS, Am Rgtry Diagn Med Sonographer, Am Registry Of Radiologic Tech
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters Degree preferred

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $84,577.93 - $145,897.01 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
