Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Ultrasound Technologist (Echo) - FHC.

The Ultrasound tech will be performing echocardiograms on a wide variety of patients including fetuses, neonates, infants, children, adolescents and periodically adults.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Use Doppler technology to aid in assessing patients pre-operatively and post-operatively related to acquired and congenital heart disease in the pediatric population.
  • Perform other related duties as required, such as perform adult echocardiography if available when needed in Echo Department.
  • Is competent to care for patients based upon the age groups treated.
  • Must be able to use independent judgment in performing echocardiogram examinations.
  • Train and orientate new personnel.
  • Consult with supervisor or physician when in doubt.
  • Assists in specialized procedures on patients such as pericardiocentesis and localization of catheter for balloon septostomy.
  • Explain the procedure to the patient (parents), record medical history considered necessary, and prepare patients for testing.
  • Assist the physician with patient care.
  • Present preliminary findings to physician for final approval.
  • Maintain logs of ultrasound test findings.
  • Record files and edit results of echocardiogram. Enter into Merge Cardiology Information System
  • Judge if images are satisfactory for diagnostic purposes.

 

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a High School diploma or GED equivalent
Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited Cardiovascular Technology Program
Registry Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (RDCS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (RCS) registry must be obtained within 1 year of hire
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association is required at the time of hire and is required to be maintained

Preferred Qualifications:
Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (RDCS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (RCS) and RDCS (PE) preferred
2 years experience in pediatric echocardiography required
Experience working with children

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $109,464.54 - $109,464.54 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
