Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Clinical Nutritionist .
In this role, the successful candidate supports the Center for the Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease in its focus on diet and lifestyle in the improvement of heart disease. As part of a multidisciplinary care team, the individual will provide consultation and education to patients who are managing or at risk of heart disease and related cardiac and cardiometabolic conditions including patients who are being seen as part of clinical care partnerships with the Cancer Center, Obstetrics / Gynecology, Endocrinology, Rheumatology, Dermatology, and Internal Medicine. The Clinical Nutritionist will work with minimal supervision reporting to the Clinical Directors in an outpatient setting including telehealth. The individual will develop, document, track, and evaluate outpatient diet plans and will coordinate treatment plans and monitor outcomes closely with physicians. The position must foster and work in collaboration with internal and external providers, other NYULMC staff, and payers to ensure the achievement of high quality outcomes. The individual may enhance the research capabilities of the Center by advising on diet and nutrition aspects in the design, implementation, and evaluation of clinical trials and special projects. The individual will help create useful educational materials that include evidence-based diet and lifestyle guidance which can be used for all patients seen through the Center as well as at outreach events in the community. The Nutritionist will participate in and enhance staff and physician education and academic activities.
Job Responsibilities:
- Plans, evaluates, and provides individual patient medical nutrition therapy including nutrition consultation with family members and physicians.
- Documents consultations and education and provides comprehensive follow-up communication to referring physicians to ensure optimal care coordination.
- Participates in and provides education for programs for community benefit, NYU staff education, as well as continuing medical education.
- Attends multidisciplinary patient care rounds, pertinent clinical meetings, program/initiative teleconferences, program enhancement trainings and meetings, as required.
- Ensures that patients' needs for special diets and altered meal schedules are met. Identifies patient diet knowledge deficits.
- Guides and supports the development of a coordinated and integrated nutrition program with Center directors, physicians, and administrators.
- Manages and requests appropriate educational resources as required.
- Develops evaluation and quality assurance measures for the nutrition program and nutrition-related educational materials for distribution.
- May advise on and direct diet and nutrition components of clinical research.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition, or equivalent Education in Nutrition that meets the CDRs education requirement for certification. Licensure/Certification:-Current Registered Dietitian Certification from the CDR.
Computer Skills:Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, Windows, Excel and an email system.
Other:-Flexible and adaptable of schedule to facilitate classes, as needed.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:Must have current knowledge of nutrition therapy and skills in educating small and large groups.Be able to work effectively under pressure by prioritizing work activities or renegotiation of deadlines. Be able to give constructive feedback when teaching patients and staff. Maintain a positive attitude with changing conditions. Appropriate interventions and follow up is performed on identified projects-Demonstrates organizational abilities. Demonstrates dependability. Requires strong written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization. Must be able to work under general supervision. Must have a professional and mature demeanor.Must be able to work in a fast-paced department and handle multiple tasks, work with interruptions,and deal effectively with confidential information
Preferred Qualifications:
Master of Science in Nutrition. Knowledge and experience specifically in improvement of cardiovascular risk factors including diabetes, prediabetes, metabolic syndrome, dyslipidemias, and obesity. Strong skills or interest in coaching and behavior modification. Interest in clinical research, continuing medical education, and patient education means and methods. Experience in cardiovascular nutrition.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $83,944.35 - $104,292.55 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
