Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Research Data Associate- Per Diem.
This is a part-time, temporary position for Research Data Associate for Spring and Summer 2026 (April -July). The Research Data Associate will recruit participants for a study about a new NYC policy mandating added sugar warning labels in restaurant chains. Responsible for conducting field research in the community, troubleshooting survey procedures, and collecting data. Duties include managing participant recruitment and screening; contributing to public health and scientific knowledge on policy effects of added sugar warning labels in restaurants.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assists with conducting field research in the community, troubleshooting survey procedures, and collecting data.
- Recruits and screens potential subjects for eligibility to the study.
- Initiates contact with study participants; encourages reminders and compliance to research; ensures contact with study participants is courteous, effective, professional and cooperative.
- May complete assessments on study subjects/patients per protocol (with proper training); continue to follow-through with items and patients as part of research study.
- Interacts with patient/subject in a courteous and professional manner. Collaborates with various personnel that may be involved in assisting with specific aspects in the study.
- Ensures protocol compliance. Follows standard steps regarding eligibility criteria, follow-up process and documentation.
- Demonstrate knowledge of policies and procedures of the host institution where the study is being conducted, including the regulatory requirements such as IRB and other approvals if necessary.
- Utilizes established methodologies to collect participant information for the research project(s); gathers and compiles data, statistics and other materials as needed. Inputs data into the database and/or case report forms.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Associate's degree plus one year related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Computer literate with good interpersonal, writing and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Must be comfortable traveling to and conducting surveys with residents in diverse communities in New York City. Research assistants will be approaching residents on the street and asking them to complete a survey about their restaurant purchases.
Have at least three 3-hour blocks of time available in schedule every week from April-July
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Access to transportation (public or private) to move to a variety of locations throughout the city
Must be organized, detailed-orientated, dependable and flexible
Available to work on weekends (desired but not required)
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $25.84-$30.00 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
