Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Project Manager , Regulatory Quality Assurance.
The Senior Project Manager, Regulatory Quality Assurance will oversee the timely development of design drawings for NYU Langone Health (NYULH) capital projects and facilities to ensure compliance with applicable codes, rules, regulations, institutional standards and design guidelines. Review design drawings prior to scheduled design milestones and provide timely feedback to the Architect of Record to ensure document completeness is achieved prior to submission to the authority having jurisdiction (AHJ). Provide guidance on filing strategies and assist in the resolution of AHJ objections.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist the RED+F planning, design and construction team with the regulatory oversight of design documents for capital projects within each RED+F portfolio.
- Ensure that all RED+F capital projects and facilities are compliant with RED+F design guidelines, local laws, rules of the City of NY, NYC Building Codes, NYC Zoning Resolution, NYS Building Code, NFPA Life Safety Code, JHACO and NYS Health Codes, and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
- Serve as regulatory expert and provide guidance to RED+F stakeholders including Real Estate, Planning, Design & Construction, EH&S, Facilities and Regulatory Review relative to The Joint Commissions Life Safety & Environment of Care standards.
- Monitor and identify new regulatory requirements and prepare training material with a recommended approach for compliance. Present recommendations to RED+F stakeholders including program directors, project managers, design professionals, file representatives and contractors.
- Coordinate [AT2] the design teams response to objections received from regulatory authorities during project review for approval, permit, inspection, and signoff.
- Coordinate [AT3] the regulatory review teams response to enforcement violations, fines, and certification of correction to regulatory authorities including the NYC Environmental Control Board, Fire Department of the City of NY and the NYC Department of Buildings.
- Assist in the preparation of submittals for Temporary and Final Certificates of Occupancy for new building and major alteration applications and negotiate compliance with the NYC Department of Buildings Commissioner on behalf of NYULH.
- Participate in RED+F facilities design review meetings for development projects and provide timely feedback to the design team to assure that projects are compliant with building code and NYULH design standards.
- Review architectural design documents for code compliance and provide timely feedback to design team for inclusion prior to submission to AHJ for review and approval.
- Develop training presentations that increase RED+F project managers knowledge of construction methodology, infection control, life safety compliance and building code requirements.
- Conduct [AT4] pre-inspection surveys with NYULH regulatory and commissioning teams prior to inspection by authorities having jurisdiction. Ensure projects are compliant and ready for the safe occupancy of staff and patients.
- Support EH&S construction safety team with progress and safety inspections for projects under construction. Report back to project managers on deficiencies.
Additional Position Specific Responsibilities:
Strong communication and team building skills required. Ability to review, analyze and comprehend design and construction documents. Ability to review and interpret building codes and convey regulatory compliance requirements to design team. Ability to write reports, manuals and PowerPoint presentations and convey key concepts to an audience. Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on complex topics to RED+F stakeholders, consultants, leadership and authorities having jurisdiction. Ability to motivate design team and negotiate effectively with authorities having jurisdiction for desired RED+F action. Good judgment and reasoning ability, enabling problem solving with a variety of options in varying situations. Ability to take initiative and make decisions with in-depth understanding and interpretation of procedures, company policies and business practices to achieve complex results.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelor's degree (BA/BS), preferably in Construction Management, Engineering or Architecture or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Advanced degrees in Business, Planning & Design, Construction Management, Engineering or Architecture. 7+ years work experience for design firm, government or project management firm required. Experience working on at least two sides of the business (i.e., consultant, owner, owner rep, architect, government authority having jurisdiction, contractor, engineer) required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in related fields preferred.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $117,107.95 - $183,054.69 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
