Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Supervisor-Perinatal,Risk and Quality Labor and Delivery.

In this role, the successful candidate In this role, the successful candidate Supports Departments of Nursing's quality and safety programs as well as supervises the coordination of accurate prenatal records and newborn screening in accordance to the DOH regulations. Provides quality improvement facilitation and support for nursing staff and multidisciplinary teams undertaking improvement initiatives. Assists with assessment of the learning needs of physician and nursing staff as they pertain to quality and performance improvement; assists with provision of education and mentoring in the methods and tools of rapid cycle and continuous quality improvement. Participates in monitoring of regulatory compliance, identifies opportunities for improvement, and assists Perinatal patient care units with development and implementation of improvement strategies. Participates in occurrence reviews, complaint investigations, RCAs, FMEAs and assist in facilitation of the corrective action plans with nursing leadership and staff.

Job Responsibilities:

I. CLINICAL 

1. Articulates understanding of interdisciplinary collaboration, quality and performance management, patient safety, continuum of care concepts, customer service and healthy work environments. 

2. Assists in review and evaluation of occurrences related to nursing care reported through the electronics occurrence system and patient complaints related to patient care.

 3. Participates in RCAs, FMEAs and assist in implementation and monitoring corrective action plan. 

4. Integrates evidence-based care into the health care teams practice and decision making.

 5. Reports findings and recommendations to the OB Nursing Quality and Performance Improvement Council and the OB/GYN Department Quality Assurance and Improvement Committee.

 6. Assures compliance with standards and regulations promulgated by all applicable agencies.

II. LEADERSHIP & COORDINATION

 1. Assists unit based leadership in developing quality initiatives that reflect their specialty and achieve evidence based practice.

 2. Exercises partnership with the Chief Quality Officer in developing integrated and complementary quality and performance improvement organizational goals and leading such programs that transcend departments.. 

 3. Serves as a resource in identifying and facilitating development of comparable patient care and nursing standards at both sites

. 4. Establishes collaborative relationships with nursing staff, leadership, medical staff, and other administrative staff. 

5. Facilitates monthly OB QA meeting in conjunction with Director of Safety Officer by identifying, reviewing and developing corrective action plans based on findings

6. Facilitates monthly GYN QA meeting in conjunction with Director of GYN by identifying, reviewing and developing corrective action plans based on findings

7. Functions as a respectful member of the healthcare team. 

8. Coordinates activities to promote compliance with all regulatory requirements.

 9. Supports unit based leadership by developing tools to monitor outcomes at the unit level. 

10. Provides support for quality improvement teams including arranging meetings, providing minutes, managing project timelines, and preparing reports. 

11. Assists Department Leadership and other nursing leadership in development of presentations, reports and publication of quality and safety program outcomes. 

12. Serves as a resource or contributor to departmental initiatives and helps to develop innovative approaches to the provision of perinatal patient care.

13. Work with leadership team to assist in the leadership and monitoring of the simulation program to improve OB safety 

14. Work with Regulatory and facilitate attaining the Joint Commissions Perinatal Certification 

15. Supervises perinatal documentation and newborn screening program 

16. Assures all data reported to NYC DOH is accurate and completed in a timely manner 

III. DEVELOPMENT & EDUCATION 

1. Provides education to various levels of physician and nursing staff in the use of performance improvement methodologies as applicable to nursing quality.

 2. Serves as consultant and expert in developing standards consistent with model espoused by Departments, utilizing evidence based literature, regulatory requirements, and pertinent professional nursing standards.

 3. Participates in leadership development programs in areas pertinent to expertise and interest. 

4. Evaluates the effectiveness of education and development activities in achieving desired outcomes in collaboration with appropriate disciplines and/or Departments.

 

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a NY State RN license
BSN required , MSN or Master's degree in a related field
Minimum 5 years acute care nursing experience required
At least 2 years Labor and Delivery experience required
At least 1 year current leadership experience required, teaching experience preferred
Consultation and project management experience preferred.

Required Licenses: Registered Nurse License-NYS

View Know Your Rights: Workplace discrimination is illegal. NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $132,300.00 - $135,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
