Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Research Scientist, MS - Pediatric Environmental Study - Long Island.

In this role, the successful Research Scientist will serve as a key scientific and operational lead within the NYU ECHO/CHES program, supporting and advancing research examining the impact of environmental exposures on child and maternal health. This position builds upon the Program Supervisor role, with expanded responsibility for scientific direction, data analysis oversight, multi-site coordination, and methodological innovation. The Research Scientist will design and guide research protocols, analyze and interpret complex datasets, and mentor research staff to ensure scientific rigor, regulatory compliance, and high-quality data collection across participating sites.

Job Responsibilities:

    1. Develop, refine, and implement study protocols related to maternal-child health and environmental exposure research in collaboration with investigators and cross-site partners. Contribute to research manuscripts, presentations, and grant applications by synthesizing data, interpreting findings, and ensuring scientific accuracy.
    2. Lead or oversee advanced statistical analyses using software such as R, STATA, or SPSS to examine exposure outcome associations, data trends, and quality metrics. Partner with the Data Core to improve data collection systems, develop dashboards, and guide data quality assurance and harmonization efforts across NYU and collaborating institutions.
    3. Oversee site-level research operations for multiple locations (e.g., Manhattan and Long Island), ensuring timely participant recruitment, biospecimen collection, and longitudinal follow-up. Coordinate with medical and laboratory staff to maintain integrity in biospecimen handling, processing, and regulatory documentation.
    4. Supervise and mentor Program Supervisors, Research Data Associates, and trainees in research design, data management, and analytical techniques. Provide technical guidance in participant engagement strategies, field data collection, and ethical research conduct (GCP/HIPAA compliance).
    5. Present findings at internal research meetings, consortium working groups, and national conferences. Prepare study progress summaries and contribute to peer-reviewed publications advancing the understanding of environmental determinants of child health.

 

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Masters degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Environmental Health, or a related field.
Minimum 3 - 5 years of research experience in epidemiology, clinical, or population health studies.
Demonstrated experience with statistical analysis and management of large datasets.
Proven ability to lead study teams and coordinate multi-site research operations.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $64,382.25 - $111,059.36 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
