Position Summary:


We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Research Data Associate. We are seeking a Spanish-English bilingual Research Data Associate to support clinical research projects, primarily the Strengthening Screening and Referrals for Social Needs Project in the Department of Pediatrics at NYU Langone Health / NYU Grossman School of Medicine. The Research Data Associate will work with Medical Center staff and departments, including Directors, Managers, Research Staff, and may interface with patients and their families. The research project, led by Dr. Carol Duh-Leong, focuses on the impact of large-scale policy to address social needs related to early obesity risk with an emphasis on reducing racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic disparities in childhood obesity rates. The research aims to understand how the implementation of New Yorks Medicaid 1115 Demonstration Waiver may contribute to mitigating social needs and promoting healthier feeding and activity practices in families. The RDA will also support additional research projects. Dr. Duh-Leong focuses on how differences in environments and experiences shape early nutrition security ensuring sustainable access, affordability, and intake of healthful nutrition during pregnancy and early childhood. The research aims to understand how policies and programs may contribute to differences in healthy growth and well-being across the life course, with a particular emphasis on pediatric primary care interventions, adverse social determinants of health, and relational health.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment duties RDA will recruit research participants and obtain informed consent. The RDA will recruit and enroll participants from the waiting room of a large public hospital. They will obtain informed consent from interested subjects. They will follow up with enrolled participants to complete assessments and semi-structured qualitative interviews. They will track participants through the life course of the study.
  • Research duties The RDA may be responsible for conducting literature searches and systematic reviews to support research initiatives. The RDA will assist with preparing submissions for grants and manuscripts, ensuring timely completion of all required documents. The RDA may be responsible to translate project-related documents. Additional program duties are to assist with research dissemination efforts, including preparing PowerPoint presentations, posters, and other materials for conferences and
    publications.
  • Data duties The RDA will create projects and instruments on RedCap with training provided as needed and will enter all assessment data into RedCap and Excel. The RDA will assist with data cleaning and data management. The RDA will provide data entry, ensuring data quality and integrity. The RDA will learn how to perform basic data analysis, with an opportunity to use statistical software such as Stata and R. The RDA will also engage in analysis programming such as Dedoose, so though experience is preferred (and not required), training will be provided by Dr. Duh-Leong and the study team as relevant and needed.
  • IRB duties The RDA will support the preparation of Institutional Review Board (IRB) materials including the original protocol, amendments, updates, and renewals, as well as keeping track of all study team member requirements. The RDA will assist with the upkeep of the Study Regulations binder.
  • Medical chart review duties The RDA will complete medical chart review at study time points in order to collect vital signs, weight, and any applicable medical information. This includes using the medical record systems at Bellevue, NYU Langone Health, and NYU Langone Brooklyn, and requesting medical charts from other institutions where families may have transferred. The RDA will enter all medical chart review data into Redcap.
  • General research administrative duties The RDA will work closely with the PI, research team, and external collaborators to meet project goals and deadlines.

 

Minimum Qualifications:


To qualify you must have an Associate's degree plus one year related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Computer literate with good interpersonal, writing and verbal communication skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications:


Bachelor's degree, preferably in science, public health, health education or a related field. Prior experience in a health care settings and/or research level interviews. Prior patient education experience.

 

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $51,236.16 - $51,236.16 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
