Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Research Coordinator within the NYU Grossman School of Medicine's Ronald O. Perelman Department of Emergency Medicine, Research Division. This Research Coordinator will support a new study, The Impact of Housing Choice Vouchers on Health and Housing Outcomes, funded by the National Institutes of Health (PI: Dr. Kelly Doran).
The Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program is the largest rental assistance initiative in the U.S., providing support to 5 million people annually. Our study will employ both quantitative and qualitative methods to evaluate how baseline health status shapes voucher use and how voucher receipt affects health and housing outcomes. Quantitative aims use HCV waitlist data linked with statewide Medicaid data and other housing-related datasets to examine the impact of baseline health status on voucher lease-up or success rates and estimate the impact of HCVs on housing and health outcomes. Qualitative research will assess barriers and facilitators to successful HCV use and explore pathways between HCVs and health using in-depth qualitative interviews with voucher recipients. The investigators will work closely with a Study Advisory Boardincluding robust plans for meaningfully including and amplifying the voices of people with experience of housing insecurityto maximize the impact of the research. This unique research will provide actionable evidence for health and housing practitioners in NYC and nationally to help them tailor, implement, and scale interventions to boost HCV success rates and maximize the impact of the voucher program and other housing interventions.
The Research Coordinator will be critical for ensuring successful implementation of the study, filling a range of roles and meeting study goals while adhering to regulatory requirements and ensuring deliverables are met effectively, on time, and are of high quality. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, adept in the conduct of research, and have research and community engagement experience. The Research Coordinator must be able to work autonomously, while maintaining good communication with the study PI, Program Manager, and study partners. In addition to the study described above, the Research Coordinator may also be asked to assist with other studies led by Dr. Doran related to health and housing.
