Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Lead Nuclear Medicine Technologist. 

In this role, the successful candidate has above average skills and along with the Chief Tech of the Nuclear Medicine area oversees all aspects of the daily operation of the Nuclear Medicine section.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide cover in the absence of the Chief Technologist as needed with supervising Nursing, Transport, clerical, PCT and PCA personnel in the duties required to meet the unique needs of the Nuclear Medicine area including the use of overtime.
  • Ensure that the staff signs in and out daily and that in progress exams are tracked out after they are done.
  • Adjust and adapt to work schedule changes in response to unusual circumstances.
  • Comply with the procedure for staff completing the online performance evaluations. 
  • Maintain documentation on the ordering, usage and disposal of Radiopharmaceutical.
  • Monitor for contamination the Nuclear Medicine environment, the staff and generated garbage.
  • Solve staff problems with difficult cases troubleshooting technical problems with the patient or equipment.
  • Respond to request for assistance from the other staff.
  • Solve technical problems that arise during patient examinations.
  • Assist the Radiologist during the course Nuclear Medicine scan.
  • Recognizes and reports abnormalities with the patient, the procedure ordered or the contrast to the attention of the Attending Radiologist before, during or after any procedure.
  • Plan and coordinate for uninterrupted service during a downtime of the clinical systems, the PACS, any of the Nuclear Medicine modalities, a disaster or staff shortages.
  • Capable of redirecting scanned images to specific consoles during a downtime.
  • Assist in the back loading of data into the RIS after a downtime.
  • Perform medically prescribed radiological Nuclear Medicine exams.
  • Report malfunctioning, damaged or missing equipment parts to the service engineer.
  • Performs and participates in other job related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree or Certificate from an accredited School of Radiologic Technology, required.
  • ARRT in Nuclear Medicine or NMTCB Certification, required.
  • Must have a New York State Radiologic Technologist License in Nuclear Medicine.
  • 5 or more years of experience, required.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $112,572- $124,592.40 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
