Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Radiology Imaging Associate - Per Diem - Radiology-MRI - Per Diem - Varies.

In this role, the successful candidate Is responsible for support to the Technical Staff by performing various functions, transportation of patients, clerical, and patient care functions. By performing all tasks in an efficient, responsible and caring manner, the employee will be dedicated to meet the needs of customers and staff in accordance with the Standards of Service Excellence. In doing so, will demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care with respect to the special needs of each patient age group serviced as well as those persons with disabilities

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Patient Care
  • Observe patients while in radiology.
  • Informs technologist, nurse or PA when a patient appears to need assistance.
  • Transports patient to and from the radiology area.
  • When arriving on nursing unit, notify the appropriate unit staff that the patient is going to radiology.  Checks with patients nurse regarding any special instructions needed to transport. (i.e. o2, cardiac monitor, etc.).

Qualified personnel must disconnect all medical care equipment attached to patient.

  • Verify that the exam is ordered.
  • Check patient’s armband before transporting the patient. The transporter identifies the patient by asking, “What is your full name”  The patient’s armband is verified with the patient/family or nursing staff, for correct patient name and date of birth.  Patient name is compared to the patient chart.
  • Bring the patient’s chart to radiology with the patient.
  • Assists other personnel regarding patients entering department and patients being returned to Nursing Units.
  • Practices safe techniques in dealing with all aspects of transporting.
  • Utilizes wheelchairs, stretchers or beds in transporting patients.
  • Delivers oral contrast to Nursing Units.

 

2. Technical Functions:

  • Calls Nursing Units, informing them of patient pick up times and to ascertain any pertinent information in regards to the patient that would-be helpful in expediting the transport and the examination scheduled.
  • Utilizes appropriate computer functions to obtain patient and record information and exam tracking.
  • Assists Technologist in maintaining the readiness of the procedure room.
  • Transports mobile equipment, as needed to assist technologist.
  • Communicates with supervisor or designee regarding any situation affecting patient care.
  1. Clerical Functions
  • Will function in a support role, as needed in the clerical areas.

 

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Ability to read and write
High School Graduate
Requires interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with patients, physicians and various hospital personnel.
Ability to stand and walk for up to ninety percent of work time and to lift and assist patients.

NYU Langone Hospital-Suffolk provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $27.36 - $27.36 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
