Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Surgical Technologist Labor & Delivery.
In this role, the successful candidate As a member of the healthcare team the OR tech provides direct and indirect patient care and performs technical rehabilitative and therapeutic nursing procedures and activities under the direct supervision of the registered professional nurse.
Job Responsibilities:
- Exposure & handling of hazardous waste.
- Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical psychosocial educational safety and age related criteria pertinent to the patients served in his/her assigned area.
- Establishes priorities for patient care delivery and uses critical thinking skills coordinates and completes patient care responsibilities independently or by appropriately delegating.
- Establishes effective caring relationships with staff patients families and other members of the health care team.
- Communicates and collaborates effectively with members of the health care team escalating situations appropriately.
- Promotes patient safety and quality including adherence to the National Patient Safety Goals.
- Demonstrates personal accountability for own professional practice and professional growth.
- Performs other duties as aligned with the mission and values of the organization.
- Creates and maintains a sterile field. Reports any break in technique with proper follow-up.
- Performs all the requirements of the Universal Protocol and Time Out in accordance with Hospital policy.
- Performs proper specimen handling according to guidelines from the laboratory. Universal precautions are observed and appropriate PPE utilized.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a High School Diploma or equivalent required. BLS Required (American Heart Association) 1-3 years of operating room experience preferred. Must be a graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program through NBSTSA. Certification exam must be taken and passed within 12 months of completion of surgical technologist program..
Required Licenses: Cert Surgical Technologist, Basic Life Support Cert
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $81,140.67 - $106,705.54 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
