Position Type

Part-Time

  • Provides Medicare, Medicaid and other benefits information to callers and directs callers to other resources.
  • Provides public benefits application assistance. Helps callers compare Medicare options during annual Open Enrollment.
  • Maintains caller records and documents caller activity. Assists with benefits counseling program activities, such as mailing educational handouts.
  • Provides regular phone support for department.

Required Skills

  • Ability to handle multiple phone calls per day and prioritize caller needs.
  • Ability to gather information from callers and provide easily understood explanations about public and private benefits.
  • Ability to do research as needed to answer benefits question.
  • Ability to fill out applications and gather required documentation.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to document caller activity via reporting software.
  • Knowledge of Medicare Parts A, B, C, D. Familiarity with computers and software programs.

Required Experience

  • Work requires knowledge of a specific vocational, administrative, or technical nature that may be obtained with six months/one year of advanced study or training past the high school equivalency
  • 1-3 years related work experience
  • Successful candidate may be asked to do occasional travel to an onsite clinic location or health fair
