The North Central Texas Council of Governments is seeking a Full Time Early Childhood Specialist to provide support to the Workforce Development Department. This position will provide support and program assistance for our department with primary work in the Early Childhood Quality Initiative program.

The purpose of this position is to provide on-site Texas Rising Star mentoring and technical assistance for both administrators and teachers working in early childhood settings at either regulated child care centers or home based care within the 14-county North Central Texas Workforce Development Area.

Travel within region (non-overnight) estimated to be 90%.

Required Skills

  • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices for children ages from birth through 12 years
  • Training of adult learners
  • Understanding of observation, evaluation and assessments of early childhood programs
  • Knowledge of ITERS, ECERS-R, FCERS, TBRS, CLASS or other assessment tools
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to present to staff and outside customers
  • Detail oriented, highly organized, ability to multitask
  • Disciplined self-starter who thrives in a team oriented environment
  • Ability to communicate with individuals from culturally diverse backgrounds
  • Valid Driver’s License

Preferred Skills

  • Bilingual English and Spanish speaker
  • Registry with the Texas Early Childhood Professional Development System and a registered trainer
  • Understanding of Texas Rising Star Guidelines and the minimum standards of Texas Child Care Licensing

Required Experience

Bachelor's degree and 1-3 years related work experience.
