Muskegon Community College is a center for lifelong learning that helps people attain their educational goals by offering programs that respond to individual, community, and global needs. MCC is an associate degree-granting institution of higher education and an applied technology leader for high-tech, hands-on training.
With nearly a 100-year history of academic excellence, MCC is a public community college accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. With robust student success support, free tutoring, 20 athletic teams, events, clubs, and activities, MCC has an annual, full-time equated student enrollment of approximately 2,300 and an unduplicated headcount of 5,100.
Most recently, Muskegon Community College outranked all other colleges in Michigan for the rate of students who received federal financial aid and then transferred to continue their education at a four-year institution. The college’s transfer-out rate was the highest in Michigan, 7 percentage points above the state average, and outpaced the average transfer rate across the nation.
The College has an annual operating budget (general fund) of $51 million and employs about 210 regular full and part-time staff and many adjunct faculty and student assistants. The College also offers 52 Associate degree programs and 24 certificate programs.
The main campus is located on a 111-acre campus in Muskegon which includes the Hendrik Meijer Library & Information Technology Center, Bartels-Rode Gymnasium, Frauenthal Foundation Fine Arts Center (including the Overbrook Theater and Art Gallery), Stevenson Center, the Science Center, the Health and Wellness Center, Art & Music Building, and MCC Golf Course.
Muskegon Community College also operates the Sturrus Technology Center and Fab Lab in downtown Muskegon and extension centers in Ottawa and Newaygo Counties.

General Description:
This role leads by serving as a visible and enthusiastic representative of the College, cultivating relationships with prospective students, families, schools, and community partners working very closely with others from our local districts with a personal focus on the dual enrollment and direct credit processes. Through engaging outreach, personalized guidance, and compelling presentations, this individual inspires students to envision themselves as successful college students and encourages enrollment by effectively communicating the transformative value of a Muskegon Community College education. With oversight for the campus Welcome Center (One Stop Shop) and progress reporting/data analysis for the department, this individual will be instrumental both with improving efficiencies behind the scenes and ensuring the team is exceeding student service and success goals.

- Bachelor’s degree required in business, education, marketing, human resources or closely related; master's degree preferred.
- Candidates with bilingual skills, especially Spanish, preferred.
- Communicates with enthusiasm, professionalism, and authenticity across a variety of audiences and settings.
- Demonstrated excellence in written, oral and presentation communication skills with internal and external audiences, both one on one and in large group settings.
- Demonstrated ability to relate to people of all ages, races, and social-economic backgrounds.
- Ability to energize and motivate others especially in medium to large sized groups and connect with individuals highly motivated, results-oriented customer service, sales, and recruitment experience preferred.
- Demonstrated use of tact, judgment and discretion and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Highly motivated and solution oriented with a high degree of integrity, ethics and dedication to the mission of the College.
- High proficiency in demonstration of office technology, software, & equipment. Ability and willingness to upgrade skills including technology or process changes.
- Demonstrated ability to build working relationships with external and internal constituents.
- Demonstrated proficiency with enterprise system or CRM (customer relationship management system) Ellucian Colleague preferred.
- Must be adaptable and flexible to changes in tasks and processes.
- Requires prolonged sitting or standing, keyboarding and work on computer (hand/eye strain), speaking in English via phone or in person.
- May require evening and occasional weekend hours for on or off campus events.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable personal transportation for visiting area schools or off campus appointments.
Essential Function:
- Hire, mentor, coach, develop, and supervise employees and work study students as assigned for the department.
- Serve as liaison to high school dual enrollment and direct credit students, and other parties responsible for the handling of partnerships.
- Assist supervisor in mentoring, training, directing, organizing, and leading staff.
- Manage and coordinate all aspects of dual enrollment, direct credit, and employer sponsorships programs including web page content, marketing and communication.
- Oversee all aspects of the online workflow system including but not limited to building the platform to functions for the processing of partnership documents, day-to-day functions, maintenance, reports, workflows, etc.
- Develop, analyze and deliver information regarding ongoing reporting and plans to continue improving strategies for student and institutional success.
- Oversee and/or partner with others in events or programming as assigned including but not limited to Dual Enrollment 101, high school visits, college fairs, and other recruitment events.
- Coordinate communications with all appropriate personnel at high schools, state programs, and other partners regarding important information including registration and withdrawal dates.
- Assist incoming and currently enrolled students with admissions and financial aid applications, scholarships, placement testing and plans for payment to ensure a seamless enrollment process throughout the student’s tenure at MCC.
- Generate admission leads through personal and professional contacts, community/corporate partnerships, current students, alumni, and other lead generation initiatives.
- Meet/contact prospective new students and recruit at various locations including but not limited to the following: area high schools, skill centers, adult education, and alternative education.
- Follow up with potential students to check on all stages of their entry to the institution and document as appropriate in system.
- Plan, implement, and follow up on outreach campaigns targeting college age and non-traditional adult learners.
