About the job:
The Senior Systems Administrator drives the technical vision for future mission-critical systems, leading the design, implementation, and maintenance of the organization's core IT infrastructure. This role encompasses project management for systems administration initiatives, hands-on administration and support for critical operating system and application environments, as well as server and storage hardware. A key aspect of this position is mentoring and coaching systems administration staff and providing comprehensive training on enterprise systems.
Required Skills
What you will do:
- Core Systems and Infrastructure Management: Design, administer and maintain the organization's foundational IT infrastructure, including server and operating system environments. This involves designing, implementing and managing enterprise-level server platforms and virtualization technologies. You'll also oversee modular server environments and administer the Storage Area Network (SAN) to ensure robust hardware and software performance.
- Enterprise Application Support and Integration: Provide specialized design, configuration and support for vital enterprise applications. This includes managing and maintaining document imaging systems (including capture solutions and high-speed scanners), supporting budgeting software (patching, security, and data integration with HR systems), and ensuring optimal function of application and portal servers for critical web applications, content management, and custom components.
- Data Protection and Security Implementation: Ensure data integrity, availability, and security. This involves comprehensive support for backup and disaster recovery solutions, including automated storage library technology. You will also implement and administer single sign-on configurations for seamless and secure integration with enterprise directory services.
- Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Contribute to knowledge transfer and team development by planning and delivering training programs on mission-critical systems to employees and IT technical staff. Provide technical and competency-based mentoring to IT Operations staff. This role also includes participating in a rotating on-call schedule for 24x7 support of mission-critical systems to ensure continuous operational readiness.

Required Experience
What you will need (minimum qualifications):
- Bachelor’s Degree plus ten (10) years directly related IT work experience
AND, a minimum of - Four (4) years in lead technical role, OR an equivalent combination of education & experience
- Two (2) years of directly related work experience utilizing MSF required technologies from the approved ‘MSF Current Technologies’ document. Equivalent current technologies will also be considered.
Job location: This position requires regular presence at the Helena, Montana office.
Compensation and Benefits: The salary range for this (3D) position is $97,000 - $145,500. This is an exempt position.
