The Director, Corporate Finance, will oversee the Society’s finance operations and general accounting functions, including its subsidiaries and affiliates. Provide strategic and operational direction for areas of responsibility including cash receipts and accounts payables, banking, payroll, procurement, credit and collections, and general accounting. Serve as the finance lead for the Society’s Workday ERP program, collaborating cross-functionally to identify and drive process improvements. Collaborate closely with senior management and department heads to support organizational goals. Lead, develop, and mentor finance staff, fostering a positive and engaging team environment.
Responsibilities:
1) Provide strategic and operational direction for areas of responsibility including cash receipts, accounts payables, banking, payroll, procurement, credit and collections, and general accounting. Leverage Workday (Human Capital Management and Financials system) to establish the appropriate systems and internal controls to meet the needs of the Society and its subsidiaries and affiliates.
2) Manage the payroll specialist to ensure accurate and timely processing in compliance with federal, state, and local laws within a multi-state jurisdiction environment. Provide backup payroll processing support during staff absences as needed.
3) Oversee Accounting and Treasury Operations including defining and implementing Society policies related to the control, documentation, and accounting of cash receipts and disbursements. Assures adherence to generally accepted accounting principles, including responsibility for the completion of the annual independent financial audit.
4) Oversee the Procurement Manager to guide sourcing strategy and capabilities, supplier and vendor negotiations, and to ensure compliance with internal controls and alignment with cost-efficiency efforts.
5) Serve as the finance lead for the Society’s Workday ERP program, supporting backend financial operations, business process improvements, and data/reporting needs. Leads initiatives to optimize and streamline processes within the finance ecosystem including, Financial Data Model, accounting, suppliers, customers, business assets, banking, expenses, and payroll.
6) Lead, develop, and mentor finance staff, fostering a positive and engaging team environment. Set performance objectives, provide ongoing coaching, support, and performance feedback to maximize employee potential.
7) Proactively identify opportunities to improve business processes, driving automation and efficiency efforts from conception to execution.
8) Act as a strategic partner to internal stakeholders by providing financial insights, operational support, and decision-making guidance.
9) Support the Vice President of Finance/CFO with developing financing strategies and maintain a positive, professional relationship with financial institutions.
10) Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required. CPA (Certified Public Accountant) strongly preferred.
- 10 years + of progressive experience in financial operations, accounting, or treasury management, including at least 5 years in a management role. Ability to provide strategic direction while diving deep into operational details to support team members.
- Experience overseeing payroll in a multi-state jurisdiction environment, procurement, and general accounting functions is highly preferred.
- Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work cross-functionally with other departments and with executive leadership.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly to various audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and contribute to complex cross-functional projects from conception through execution.
- Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to lead, supervise, and develop teams.
- Familiarity with multi-entity structures, cost controls, and cash flow forecasting.
- Working knowledge of Workday Financials and HCM is strongly preferred along with the ability to evaluate and improve end-to-end finance processes, enhance data integration and reporting, and drive efficiencies across the finance ecosystem.
- Ability to handle sensitive financial information with discretion and integrity.
