Location: North Fort Myers, FL

Work Hours: Monday- Friday 7:00 am – 4:00 pm plus some irregular days/hours when needed

Position Summary:  This position provides support and coordination of distribution design activities with internal and external stakeholders. Tracks progress of design projects and ensures design accuracy and compliance. Provides training and guidance to the distribution design staff. Responds reliably and timely to calls during regular work hours and non-regular work hours.

Position Responsibilities

  • Coordinate large distribution design projects within the department and with applicable external departments such as Key Accounts, System Planning, Protection & Control, Purchasing, and Construction & Maintenance.
  • Verify clear and effective communications with customers to ensure the member’s needs are met and expectations are established.
  • Check design work for accuracy and standards compliance.
  • Track progress of design projects and report status to OBS Project Coordinator.
  • Provide training to distribution designers.
  • Mentor less experienced distribution designers.
  • Assist with the review and maintenance of distribution design processes and procedures.
  • Primary point of contact with standards engineer for evaluation of standards concerns and modifications.
  • Act on behalf of the department supervisor in his/her absence.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with employees and customers at all levels within LCEC. Ensure smooth operations, productive communications, and effective understanding during all interpersonal contacts. Provide current and accurate information to all requesters, courteously and in a timely manner.
  • Support Storm Restoration efforts when needed. Work in emergency storm situations (i.e. hurricanes) and work long hours (>12 hours per day) for many continuous days/weeks as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education

  • Associate's Degree (prefer electrical or power), (Required) and
  • 10 years’ engineering or coordinator experience in the power industry. (Required) or
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (prefer electrical or power), (Required) and
  • 5 years’ engineering or Coordinator experience in the power industry. (Required)

Work Experience

  • Design experience with large distribution projects. (Required)
  • Proven track record of Project Management or other Leadership experience. (Required)
  • Experience with NISC Staking application or similar mapping and design application. (Required)
  • Project/Work Group Coordination and/or Supervision experience. (Preferred)
  • Project Coordination and/or Supervision Courses or Certifications. (Preferred)
  • Recognition in the profession as a specialist in field (teaching, writing). (Preferred)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated understanding of LCEC or other electric utility construction processes & standards. (Required)
  • Ability to successfully resolve customer or contractor issues and design problems. (Required)
  • Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with all levels within and outside of the organization. (Required)
  • Strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and demands. (Required)
  • Ability to work effectively in high-energy and fast-paced environment. (Required)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. (Required)
  • Must possess skills operating a PC and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, a work management system, and design/mapping software. (Required)

Licenses

  • Valid Florida Drivers’ License (upon hire). (Required)
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) Registration. (Preferred)

STORM DUTY REQUIREMENTS.... Responding to storms may be considered a condition of employment: LCEC provides critical services to our community during an emergency.  Employees may be required to participate in the response/recovery activities related to emergencies/disasters to maintain service to our LCEC members. Employees are required to work in their normal job duties or other assigned activities.  Proper compensation will be made in accordance with the company's guidelines and procedures.
