Location:  North Fort Myers, Florida

Work hours:  8am – 5pm, M-F with occasional call out

Position Summary: The Reliability Engineer is responsible for analyzing and reporting on the reliability of the electric power system.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Track and publish various reliability metrics including SAIDI, SAIFI, CAIDI, MAIFI and CEMI5.
  • Maintain and ensure the accuracy of reliability data base.
  • Provide post analysis of trouble calls to ensure accurate and consistent reporting.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of all trouble calls that exceed designated thresholds.
  • Collect pertinent information and material from field crews needed to identify the root cause of failure.
  • Work with the standards/materials engineer to analyze failed electric system components.
  • Perform trend analysis to identify repetitive trouble causes.
  • Conduct periodic meetings with E&O management team to provide findings of outage analysis.
  • Organize quarterly metric reporting meetings for E&O staff.
  • Participate and coordinate collection of data for nationwide benchmarking studies.
  • Organize and develop reliability related reports for company distribution.
  • Provide data and analysis required for management to establish annual KPI reliability goals.
  • Assist E&O staff in the mining of reliability data as requested.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with contractors and LCEC employees, customers and other stakeholders.  Ensure smooth operations, productive communications, and effective understanding during interpersonal communications.  Provide current and accurate information to all requests, courteously and in a timely manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required and Desired Qualifications (by grade level):

Associate Engineer Required Qualifications:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering (or AA in EET with 2 years’ experience).
  • Florida driver’s license or ability to obtain one upon employment.

Associate Engineer Desired Qualifications:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering.
  • 3 years’ engineering experience.
  • 2 years’ experience in a power engineering profession.

Engineer I Required Qualifications:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering.
  • 3 years’ engineering experience.
  • 2 years’ experience in a power engineering profession.
  • 1 year of experience in an E&O engineering role.
  • Florida driver’s license or ability to obtain one upon employment.

Engineer I Desired Qualifications:

  • Masters’ degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Licensed professional engineer.

Engineer II Required Qualifications:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering.
  • 7 years’ engineering experience.
  • 5 years’ experience in a power engineering profession.
  • 3 years’ experience in E&O engineering roles – multiple roles and rotations (i.e. reliability, protection).
  • Florida driver’s license or ability to obtain one upon employment.

Engineer II Desired Qualifications:

  • Masters’ degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Licensed professional engineer.

Senior Engineer Required Qualifications:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering.
  • 15 years’ engineering experience.
  • 10 years’ experience in a power engineering profession.
  • 7 years’ experience in E&O engineering roles – experience in at least (2) areas and qualified to fill in multiple functions.
  • Florida driver’s license or ability to obtain one upon employment.

Senior Engineer Desired Qualifications:

  • Masters’ degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Licensed professional engineer.
  • Recognition in the profession as a specialist in the field (teaching, writing).
  • Experience in multiple areas of electrical engineering.

  • Physical Demands:  Able to sit at computer desk and terminal for extended periods of time.  Able to view computer monitor from reasonable distance.  May be required to lift up to 25 pounds on occasion.  Able to drive vehicle.
  • Work Environment:  Primarily air-conditioned office environment.  Occasional trips to field facilities such as substations.

STORM DUTY REQUIREMENTS.... Responding to storms will be considered a condition of employment: LCEC provides critical services to our community during an emergency.  Employees are required to participate in the response/recovery activities related to emergencies/disasters to maintain service to our LCEC members.  Employees are required to work in their normal job duties or other assigned activities.  Proper compensation will be made in accordance with the company's guidelines and procedures.
