What We Need

Kymeta is looking for an Engineering Director, Defense Platform for our MIL Standard platform who will work with exceptionally talented teams of multi-disciplined engineers to develop the next generation of satellite-based mobile communications. The role will work with RF Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical & Firmware Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials & Reliability Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, Program Management, Product Management, and executive leadership to define, develop, test, and align platform to meet product family objectives. You will oversee all aspects of the platform development cycle from technology innovation through product family introduction. As a platform technology leader, you will own the technical direction, decision-making process, and alignment of product families to platform requirements.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ability to resolve complex issues on critical programs related to architectural approaches, requirements, specifications, and design
  • Leads technical aspects of proposal preparation
  • Identifies critical performance measures and develops a process for capturing and reporting
  • Leads activities supporting Supplier Management by making buy recommendations and other technical services
  • Coordinates engineering support throughout the lifecycle of the platform. Develops new concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements
  • Recommends and manages technology insertion while working under consultative direction
  • Responsible for coordination of requirements & technical direction for product families into the platform and dependency of building blocks
  • Owns the technical trade decision process and coordination with the business trade decision process
  • Align cross-functional teams on Platform Design For Manufacturing, Assembly, Test & Supply Chain
  • Develops requirements and facilitates alignment of New Technology Introduction in support of the Platform & Product Families
  • For technical risk management for the MIL Standard platform

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • 15+ years of direct experience in prototype or medium to large scale program definition, design, development, integration, testing, and capability demonstrations
  • Experience with design, development, and integration of networking, communications, and datalink capabilities and subsystems
  • Demonstrated experience leading a team of hardware and software engineers through the design and development of prototype or development-type programs
  • Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated experience collecting complex engineering data from multiple sources and the ability to organize and communicate data concisely to the customer and senior leadership
  • The personal flexibility and willingness to travel to customer and supplier sites and various testing locations during the program
  • US Top Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required)

EDUCATION

  • BS Electrical, Mechanical or Computer Engineering (Master’s degree a plus) Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineer, Computer Engineering, Mathematics or Physics

COMPENSATION

Kymeta is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. In the spirit of pay transparency, we have determined the salary range for this position to be $180k - $250k. This is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would be atypical, in order to allow for future and continued salary growth. Compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to: skill set, years and depth of experience, certifications, and geography. The total compensation package for this position includes an annual target bonus of 15%, stock options, and benefits listed below. We believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer.
