Job Purpose
Tungsten Automation is seeking a Senior Director, EMEA Accounting to lead the company's EMEA accounting function from our Sofia, Bulgaria hub. This role owns the region's core accounting operations, statutory audit process, monthly close, and leads a multi-disciplinary team spanning general ledger, accounts payable, and cash management. The Senior Director will partner closely with corporate accounting, FP&A and treasury to ensure accurate, compliant, and timely financial reporting across all EMEA entities. This is a hands-on leadership role suited for an experienced accounting professional who wants to run a best-in-class regional accounting hub.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
· Lead the EMEA accounting function for Tungsten Automation, setting priorities, policies, and processes for the region.
· Build and manage the accounting team, including direct reports responsible for general ledger accounting, accounts payable, and cash management.
· Serve as the primary escalation point for accounting issues arising across the EMEA region.
Statutory Audit & Compliance
· Lead the team responsible for managing statutory financial statement audits across all EMEA jurisdictions, coordinating with local statutory auditors, tax advisors, and regulators.
· Ensure statutory financial statements are prepared and filed accurately and on time in accordance with local GAAP/IFRS requirements in each jurisdiction.
· Maintain and strengthen internal controls over financial reporting across the EMEA accounting function.
· Assist with the US Group audit, including coordination with the corporate team and external auditors on US GAAP reporting requirements.
Close, GL, and AP Operations
· Oversee the monthly close process for EMEA entities, ensuring accurate, complete, and timely financial results.
· Manage the General Ledger accounting function, including account reconciliations, journal entries, and balance sheet reviews.
· Manage the Accounts Payable function across the region, ensuring efficient, well-controlled payment and vendor processes.
· Oversee cash management and cash flow forecasting for the EMEA region, working with Treasury on liquidity planning.
· Drive standardization, automation, and continuous improvement of accounting processes and systems across the Sofia hub and broader EMEA region.
Planning & Cross-Functional Partnership
· Assist in preparing the annual accounting department budget for EMEA.
· Partner with FP&A, Tax, Treasury, and corporate accounting on reporting, compliance, and planning matters affecting the region.
· Support systems and ERP-related initiatives (e.g., NetSuite) that improve the accuracy and efficiency of EMEA accounting operations.
· Support ad hoc projects such as process transitions, entity restructurings, or M&A integration accounting as needed.
AI Adoption
· Utilize AI-enabled tools (e.g., chatbots, document automation, analytics assistants) to improve efficiency, accuracy, and streamline routine tasks while following company AI governance and data privacy standards.
Base salary range: For this role, based in Bulgaria, the base salary range is €85000-95000 per year, set using objective, gender-neutral job evaluation criteria applied to all employees performing this role or work of equal value.
Determining your actual pay: Your base salary within this range will be based on objective, gender-neutral factors — work location, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training. It will not be reduced based on prior salary or negotiating position, nor will it fall below the range or below what colleagues in equal work receive.
Scope: This range covers base salary only, not bonuses, benefits, or other remuneration (as applicable).

Required Experience
Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; advanced degree a plus.
· Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in a multi-country or shared-services EMEA environment.
· Prior people management experience required, with a demonstrated track record of building and leading accounting teams.
· Bulgarian Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation (ICPA Bulgaria / ИДЕС), ACCA, or an equivalent recognized professional accounting qualification required.
· Big 4 public accounting or audit experience strongly preferred.
· Strong working knowledge of statutory reporting requirements and local GAAP/IFRS across multiple EMEA jurisdictions.
· Working knowledge of US GAAP and experience supporting a US-based group audit is a plus.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders across cultures and time zones; additional European languages a plus.
· Experience with ERP and financial systems (NetSuite preferred) and strong Excel skills.
· Strong analytical, organizational, and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, global environment.
· High degree of integrity, sound judgment, and the ability to handle confidential financial information appropriately.
· Skills in prompting AI systems and assessing output standards.
· Ability to leverage AI to ideate, develop, and scale to the needs of their department.
