Management and staff in Tungsten Automation’s Software Development job family help the company to build and improve new and/or existing software products and their applications that we sell to our customers. Responsibilities of the Sr. Principal Developer SW position include:

Complete the most complex or highest strategic value assignments or projects within the department
Responsible for proactively identifying and recommending innovations (e.g. product innovations to assigned product line or beyond, or departmental process improvements)
Act as the department go-to-person and subject matter expert for day-to-day questions or inquires
Contribute to the department’s longer-range planning processes: establishing goals, objectives and projects
Assign goals, objectives and projects to others and monitors their technical progress (does so in partnership with the department manager)
Responsible for driving assigned projects or tasks from conception through to completion
Coach, train, and mentor other more junior technical staff in the department (i.e. staff at IC 8 level and below)
Complete department-wide projects aimed at departmental improvements, enhanced efficiencies, and effectiveness (e.g., new departmental operating procedures, templates, tools and other practices, etc.)

Sr. Principal Software Developers must be capable of performing all the following departmental tasks:

Contributing to product ideas and innovation
Evaluating product roadmaps (working with Product Management and User Experience, among other internal partners) to determine design and programming development requirements to meet customer needs (includes evaluating existing products and applications to enhance these and/or designing new products and applications)
Conducting research, where appropriate and needed, to solve specific design problems
Integrate AI/LLM capabilities into enterprise applications and internal platforms
Creating product and/or applications’ architecture and design documentation to specify engineering development requirements
Architect cloud-native solutions
Writing/developing code for new, existing or enhanced software products and applications
Integrate AI/LLM capabilities into enterprise applications and internal platforms
Working with various internal partners (such as Quality Assurance) to test new or enhanced products and their applications
Participating in cross-functional build/configuration activities to ensure overall effective and efficient new or enhanced engineering design
Contributing to downstream business activities such as technical publications and other technical communications’ tool development to ensure streamlined and effective end-user use of Tungsten Automation software products and their applications
Ensuring new or updated releases are completed on-time, on-target, on-budget and without compromise to quality
Supporting other internal and external partners/stakeholders/customers, as and when appropriate, in responding to technical inquiries
Staying abreast of industry and field developments; remaining current in the latest technologies and functionalities, as well as ever-evolving needs of customers
Utilizing AI-enabled tools (e.g., chatbots, documentation automation, analytics assistants) to improve efficiency, accuracy, and streamline routine tasks while following company AI governance and data privacy standards

Base pay range: For this role, based in Montenegro, the base pay range is 50000-65000 EUR, set using objective, gender-neutral and otherwise non-discriminatory job evaluation criteria applied consistently to all employees performing this role or work of equal value.

Total compensation: This range reflects base pay only. Tungsten Automation may also offer bonuses, commissions, equity, and benefits, described separately where applicable or required by local law.

How your pay is determined: Your base pay within this range will be based on objective, non-discriminatory factors — such as location, skills, qualifications, relevant experience, and education or training. It will not be reduced based on prior salary, and will not fall below the disclosed range or below what colleagues performing equal work or work of equal value receive.

Required Skills

Strong commercial experience with C# and .NET / .NET Core
Solid experience designing distributed backend systems and APIs
Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure
Experience with enterprise workflow or invoice/document processing platforms
Understanding of AI/ML concepts and practical AI integration experience
Experience working with LLMs, document intelligence, or AI-assisted automation solutions
Strong knowledge of SQL and data modeling
Experience with microservices architecture and cloud-native applications
Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices
Strong communication skills and ability to work across technical and non-technical teams
Skills in prompting AI systems and assessing output quality
Ability to leverage AI to ideate, develop and scale to the needs of the needs of the department

Nice to have:

Experience with Azure AI Services, Azure OpenAI, Cognitive Services, or Document Intelligence
Experience with OCR technologies and intelligent document extraction
Experience leading technical initiatives or mentoring teams
Exposure to fintech or enterprise workflow automation

Required Experience

Candidates for this position should hold the following qualifications, have the following experience, and be able to demonstrate the following competencies to be considered as a suitable applicant. Please note that except where specified as “preferred,” or as a “plus,” all points listed below are considered minimum requirements.

Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline is strongly preferred
Has a minimum of 10 years’ relevant technical experience
Must demonstrate the ability to work independently on larger or more complex departmental assignments
