Cybersecurity Engineer, Associate

Job Purpose

Tungsten Automation is looking for a driven and curious Associate Cybersecurity Engineer to join our Information Security team. This is an excellent entry-to-mid-level opportunity for a security professional with approximately 2 years of experience who is eager to grow their skills across security operations, vulnerability management, cloud security, and threat detection.

You will work alongside senior security engineers and architects to monitor, protect, and improve the security posture of Tungsten Automation's enterprise infrastructure, cloud environments, and intelligent automation platforms. This role offers hands-on exposure to industry-leading security tools, real-world incident response, and a collaborative team environment.

Key Responsibilities

Security Operations & Monitoring

• Monitor security alerts and events across SIEM platforms, cloud environments, and endpoint detection tools.
• Triage and investigate security incidents, escalating to senior engineers as appropriate.
• Assist in developing and tuning detection rules, alerts, and dashboards to reduce false positives and improve signal quality.
• Support the creation and maintenance of incident response playbooks and runbooks.

Vulnerability & Threat Management

• Conduct vulnerability scans across systems, applications, and cloud resources; track and follow up on remediation.
• Assist with threat hunting activities by analyzing logs, network traffic, and endpoint telemetry.
• Research emerging threats, CVEs, and attack techniques relevant to the organization's environment.
• Support penetration testing activities and document findings.

Cloud & Infrastructure Security

• Assist in reviewing and enforcing cloud security configurations across AWS and/or Azure environments.
• Support IAM reviews, ensuring adherence to least privilege and role-based access control policies.
• Participate in cloud security posture management (CSPM) reviews and help remediate identified misconfigurations.
• Collaborate with DevOps and infrastructure teams to embed security controls in CI/CD pipelines.

Compliance & Documentation

• Assist with internal audits and compliance assessments aligned to frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST CSF, SOC 2, and GDPR.
• Maintain accurate records of security incidents, vulnerability findings, and remediation activities.
• Contribute to the development of security awareness content and internal guidance documentation.
• Support third-party risk assessments and vendor security questionnaire responses.
• Utilize AI-enabled tools (e.g., chatbots, documentation automation, analytics assistants) to improve efficiency, accuracy, and streamline routine tasks while following company AI governance and data privacy standards.

Technical Skills

• Foundational knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and standards (NIST, CIS Controls, OWASP).
• Basic scripting ability in Python, PowerShell, or Bash for task automation and log analysis.
• Familiarity with IAM concepts including role-based access, MFA, and privileged access management.
• Understanding of common attack vectors and threat categories (phishing, ransomware, lateral movement, privilege escalation).
• Ability to read and interpret security logs, packet captures, and alert data.
• Skills in prompting AI systems and assessing output quality. 
• Ability to leverage AI to ideate, develop and scale the needs of the department. 

Experience

• Hands-on experience in cybersecurity, IT security operations, or a related technical role.
• Practical exposure to security tools such as SIEM (e.g., Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel), EDR, or vulnerability scanners (e.g., Qualys, Tenable).
• Basic familiarity with cloud platforms—AWS, Azure, or GCP—and their core security services.
• Understanding of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, VPNs, and proxies.
• Exposure to incident response processes—log analysis, containment, and remediation support.

Preferred Qualifications

• CompTIA Security+, CySA+, or equivalent entry-level security certification
• Microsoft SC-900 or AZ-900 (cloud fundamentals)
• AWS Cloud Practitioner or AWS Security Specialty (associate level)
• Exposure to DevSecOps practices or participation in CTF (Capture the Flag) competitions
• Familiarity with ticketing and collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, or ServiceNow
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
