Cloud Data Analyst

The Cloud Data Analyst is responsible for understanding business requirements and building suitable data models to deliver clear, meaningful reports and dashboards based to meet those requirements.

The successful candidate will work closely with stakeholders across the business to turn data from the transactional databases of multiple systems and technologies into well-structured data models and high-quality Power BI reports that drive insight and decision-making.

Key responsibilities 

-        Work closely with business colleagues across multiple departments to understand reporting needs 

-        Translate business questions into clear data and reporting requirements 

-        Challenge and refine requirements to ensure meaningful and actionable outputs and identify similar needs that can be aggregated into single solutions

-        Design and build efficient data models to support reporting and analysis 

-        Combine and shape data from multiple sources (e.g. SQL Server, Oracle, MongoDB, MySQL, APIs, other) 

-        Use built-in connectors and query tools to extract and transform data 

-        Handle both structured and semi-structured data sources 

-        Ensure efficient, performant and secure handling of all reporting data through this process

-        Ensure data is presented as accurate, consistent and fit for purpose information to end users

-        Develop clear, user-friendly reports and dashboards using Power BI Desktop and publish in Power BI Service

-        Continuously improve reports based on user feedback 

-        Ability to gather, interpret, and refine business requirements 

-        Experience delivering reports and dashboards using Power BI and Fabric that drive business insight 

-        Ability to explain data clearly to non-technical stakeholders 

-        Experience with Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service 

-        Proficient in data modelling, DAX and Power Query (M)

-        Good working knowledge of SQL and API fundamentals

-        Familiarity with data extraction and transformation techniques  

-        Experience working in SaaS environments within Azure, AWS or similar

-        Awareness of data governance and security practices
