Sr. Business Applications Developer

Tungsten Automation is seeking a Sr. Business Application Developer to contribute to the development, maintenance, enhancement and management of business applications within the Education department. This role will collaborate with other members of the department and other business owners to assist with the design, development and implementation of the corporate training program. The Sr. Business Application Developer will define requirements and system interfaces, assess available technologies, develop and present solutions utilizing a variety of new computing architectures, and provide technical guidance towards developing a world-class education program for our customers, partners and employees. 

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate and make recommendations to business areas to leverage existing software functionality or incorporate additional technology options to achieve desired results
• Share ‘best in class’ and ‘industry standards’ knowledge of business functions within current technology software portfolio and to additional solutions when required
• Provide programming expertise within the Education business unit, and serve as the project lead driving efforts in the analysis, design and development of business applications
• Keep informed of advancements in new and evolving technologies by participating in training and professional development opportunities
• Serve as a senior level analyst to gather requirements and develop system design specifications and document processes for new and revised information systems
• Lead application development projects, new software selection and installations and business process improvement efforts
• Lead reporting efforts by gathering data and presentation requirements (e.g. standard reports, dashboards and metrics)
• Work with IT staff and contractors to provide system requirements and ensure objectives are met
• Work with other key stakeholders in the design, development, testing, implementation and maintenance of mission critical systems within the Education department

Additional Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed program specifications, and design, code, test, debug and document programs
• Monitor and report to management on the status of project efforts, anticipating and identifying issues that inhibit the attainment of project goals and implementing corrective actions
• Oversee and assure testing and debugging techniques are used effectively in the development and maintenance of any given system
• Evaluate existing infrastructure, determine requirements for future systems to be utilized within the Education department, propose improvements and participate in the implementation
• Monitor system performance in an ongoing basis and conduct periodic system health checks on all Education infrastructure
• Provide support for all Education staff as it applies to the use of Education-based infrastructure and custom-developed software applications
• Lead projects and regularly coach other personnel to ensure business application systems are developed in a way that complies with standards and established methodologies

• Minimum five years Microsoft SQL Server experience, including stored procedures, functions, views and database triggers
• Minimum five years Microsoft Visual Studio development experience utilizing VB.net language and Windows Forms applications
• Deployment of Client/Server applications on a Windows based platform experience
• Experience with JavaScript, JQuery, HTML, XML, PHP Scripting
• Proven experience with Linux, Windows Server and networking administration
• Experience with web site development, Ecommerce, business tools and analytics
• Utilize AI-enabled tools (e.g., chatbots, documentation automation, analytics assistants) to improve efficiency, accuracy, and streamline routine tasks while following company AI governance and data privacy standards

• Bachelor’s degree, computer science degree or a minimum of five year’s relevant work experience
• Detail oriented with strong written and oral communications skills
• Proven experience successfully handling multiple and simultaneous deliverables
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced deadline driven environment and collaborate efficiently as a team member
• Ability to leverage AI to ideate, develop and scale to the needs of the department
• Skills in prompting AI to ideate, develop and scale to the needs of the department
