Sr IT Database Administrator

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Database Administrator, you will play a critical role in managing and optimizing our organization's databases to ensure high performance, availability, and security. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining database systems, as well as troubleshooting and resolving database-related issues. In addition, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement and enhance database solutions that align with business objectives.

·     -  Design and implement robust, scalable, and high-performance database solutions.

·      - Collaborate with software developers to ensure optimal database schema design for applications.

·       - Perform regular database maintenance tasks, including backups, restores, and performance tuning.

·       - Monitor and manage database security, access controls, and data integrity.

·       - Implement and maintain database policies and procedures.

·       - Proactively monitor and optimize database performance to ensure maximum uptime and responsiveness.

·       - Identify and address performance bottlenecks, query optimization, and resource utilization.

·       - Diagnose and resolve database-related issues in a timely manner.

·       - Collaborate with technical support and development teams to address complex problems.

·       - Conduct capacity planning and recommend infrastructure enhancements to support database growth.

·       - Plan and execute database migrations and upgrades while minimizing downtime and ensuring data integrity.

·       - Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for database systems, configurations, and processes.

·       - Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, system administrators, and network engineers, to deliver integrated solutions.

·       - Work with vendor partners and design optimal solutions for integration and complex functionality.

Qualifications

·       Four-year university degree or college diploma in the field of computer science.

·       5-7 years of experience as a Database Administrator, with a focus on managing large-scale relational database systems (e.g., Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server).

• Strong proficiency in database design, implementation, and performance tuning across various database server versions.

·       Experience with database security, backup and recovery, and disaster planning.

·       Relevant certifications (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate) are a plus.

Training and one on one support end users.

·       - Excellent documentation skills.

·       - Ability to multitask with multiple projects and helpdesk requests.

·       - Experience with extensive data cleansing projects in the past.

Skills and Knowledge Required

• Experience with managing large-scale relational database systems such as Oracle, MySQL, and SQL Server.
• Experience with configuring, managing, and troubleshooting SQL Server clusters for both virtualized (e.g. VMware) and physical server environments.
• Familiarity with high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) configurations in clustered database environments.
• Knowledge of best practices for deploying and maintaining clustered database solutions to ensure maximum uptime and reliability.
• Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

·       Familiarity with cloud-based database solutions (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database).

·       Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
