Job Description

Summary

This position is responsible for purchasing and managing aftermarket parts inventory. Leads the processes for inventory control, utilizing inventory management software, and the tools in the ERP system. Collaborate with Parts, and Materials management. This role will ensure that all system inventory support processes are set up to effectively manage the inventory. This position will lead and direct the aftermarket parts monthly cycle count program and will oversee the annual physical inventory process to ensure key purchasing data along with internal financial accounting controls are accurate. Schedules the inter-warehouse movements of inventory. Provides support for optimizing and planning warehouse layout and process flow for all operations. 

The buyer/material handler responsible for aftermarket parts will be based in Fort Worth. They will:

1.    Be a full-time employee reporting into Supply Chain with dotted line to Materials Management.

2.    Primarily order all raw materials and buyouts specific to Aftermarket Parts (AP).

3.    Supervise and support the picking and shipping of AP (anticipate being at least 50% of their day).

4.    Forecast demand of AP. (this is a TBD)

5.    Set inventory levels in Infor based on historical usage and Aftermarket Parts input.

6.    Place orders.

7.    Request items be removed or added to the parts website in collaboration with the parts team.

8.    Ensure requested documentation is supplied according to set service level agreements (e.g., tracking, BOL’s, order statuses and confirmations, etc.).

9.    Perform other tasks and duties as assigned.

A successful candidate will:

1.    Take ownership of timely order placement, determine, set, and maintain appropriate inventory levels, be responsible for supervising, and performing, material picking, and shipping parts orders.

2.    Share information promptly, including order statuses, item stockouts, needed adjustments to inventory levels and the implications (cost, space, etc.), potential backlog situations and what is being done to remedy them, etc.

3.    Manage their role like a small business (can-do, positive attitude, results oriented, willing to support in various, and sometimes evolving capacities, building from ground up, agile, flexible, and fast with accuracy, etc.).


Required Skills

  • Performs the daily operations to include but not limited to aftermarket parts purchasing (both buyouts and raw materials), inventory control, storage, and problem resolution.
  • Provides information on usage, quality, pricing, lead time and manufacturing capability.
  • Verifies perpetual inventory against physical count of stock and adjusts errors in computation or count and investigates and reports reasons for discrepancies and variances in inventory records.
  • Works on projects to improve quality, cycle time, process variation and efficiency.
  • Interfaces with product line coordinators on the planning and forecasting of customer orders to meet shipments.
  • Work with management to identify supply needs.
  • Recommend solutions to existing processes to reduce waste and increase quantity.
  • Record and assess all materials quality, movement, and expenditure.
  • Collaborate with management to plan forecasting models. (from our call, this seems TBD)
  • Ensure uninterrupted flow of material.
  • Ensure the customer fulfillment process and logistical requirements are met daily.
  • Re-align the Material Handler/Coordinator new job duties.
  • Implement & defined replenishment strategies within Infor GBOS - ERP system & refine with history.
  • Own, refine, and implement Cycle count program. Lead reconciliation process with accounting.
  • Coordinate production planning and control, inventory, and traffic process for business units.
  • Participate in management reviews of the system. 
  • Participate in quality planning for division and for areas of responsibility. 
  • Source and update requirements with vendors regularly, but no less than weekly.

Required Experience

  • A.S. in BA from College or University.
  • Must have 1-3 years of experience with Purchasing or Materials Mgmt. and performing supply chain functions.
  • 1-3 years of proven experience in either Purchasing, Warehousing, or Supply Chain Management.  
  • Excellent organizational skills and a deep understanding of inventory flows, cycle counting, and receiving and put-away process flows. 
  • Solid understanding of supply chain and inventory management systems.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required to effectively interface at all levels in the organization.
  • The ideal candidate should have a proven record of, decision-making, problem-solving/analysis, 
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products including Excel/Word/Power Point/Outlook
  • Excellent problem-solving skills focusing on Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action
  • Extracts and reviews historical data and on-time adherence while working with operational teams to identify and implement improvement opportunities.
  • Drive YOY inventory accuracy improvements, inventory levels & on-time performance.
