Jennie Stuart Health is seeking a dedicated and hardworking Environmental Services Aide 1 - Trash/Linen to join our team in a full-time, regular capacity. This position plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment throughout our healthcare facility, directly contributing to patient satisfaction, infection control, and overall operational excellence. As a member of the Environmental Services department, you will be an essential part of our commitment to providing a high-quality healthcare experience for patients, visitors, and staff alike.
In this role, you will be responsible for the collection, transportation, and proper disposal of trash and soiled linen throughout the facility. You will follow established protocols and safety guidelines to ensure that waste and linen are handled in compliance with healthcare regulations and infection control standards. Your work will directly impact the cleanliness and hygiene of patient rooms, hallways, nursing stations, and other areas of the hospital.
Key Responsibilities include collecting and transporting trash from patient rooms, common areas, offices, and other designated locations throughout the facility on a scheduled and as-needed basis. You will sort and handle soiled linen in accordance with established infection control procedures, ensuring proper bagging, labeling, and transport to the laundry or linen processing area. You will maintain cleanliness of trash and linen carts, utility rooms, and storage areas, ensuring all equipment is clean and in good working order. You will restock linen closets and supply areas as needed to ensure adequate supplies are available for nursing and clinical staff. You will adhere strictly to all safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), proper body mechanics, and hazardous waste handling procedures. You will report any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or unusual conditions to the appropriate supervisor promptly. You will collaborate with other Environmental Services team members and clinical staff to ensure a seamless and efficient workflow throughout the facility. You will participate in departmental training programs, in-service education, and competency assessments as required. You will maintain a professional and courteous demeanor when interacting with patients, families, visitors, and coworkers, reflecting the values and mission of Jennie Stuart Health.

This is a full-time, regular at-will position with an annual salary. No per diem is associated with this role. The position may require working various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to meet the 24/7 operational needs of the healthcare facility. Physical stamina and the ability to perform repetitive tasks, lift and carry heavy loads, and stand or walk for extended periods are essential requirements of this role.

Required Skills

Required Experience
- Prior experience in environmental services, housekeeping, janitorial, or custodial work is preferred but not required
- Experience working in a healthcare, hospital, or clinical setting is a plus
- Familiarity with infection control practices and healthcare sanitation standards is beneficial
- Experience handling and disposing of biohazardous or regulated medical waste is advantageous
- Previous experience with linen management or laundry services in a healthcare or hospitality environment is desirable
- Experience working in a team-oriented environment with demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively
- Any prior training or certification in environmental services, OSHA safety standards, or healthcare compliance is a plus
- Experience following standardized procedures and departmental protocols in a regulated industry is preferred
- Demonstrated history of reliability, attendance, and consistent job performance in previous roles
