Jennie Stuart Health is seeking a dedicated and skilled BHU Nurse Practitioner for our Inpatient Psychiatric Service. As a vital member of our healthcare team, the Nurse Practitioner will work under the programmatic supervision of the Director of Medical Services and maintain a collaborative physician and supervisory agreement for prescribing medication, as mandated by the Kentucky Board of Nursing. This PRN (Pro Re Nata) position offers a flexible schedule, with the employee working on an as-needed basis, yet it is a regular/at-will role based at the JSH- Medical Center. The Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for conducting psychiatric evaluations, managing medications and prescriptions, and ensuring all reports and documentation are completed for health care facilities. The role also includes maintaining a KASPER account with a delegate, performing psychiatric reviews, signing treatment plans as required by regulatory and funding agencies, and providing psychiatric consultations. The successful candidate will be expected to complete admission psychiatric histories within regulatory time frames, diagnose patients, administer injectable medications as indicated, and prepare and update treatment plans, goals, and objectives. Participation in discharge planning, referrals, and working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, including outpatient psychiatric services at the Pennyroyal Center, is essential. The Nurse Practitioner will lead and/or participate in weekly treatment team meetings and maintain current knowledge of all applicable Federal, State, and hospital regulations, providing services in compliance with these regulations. This role does not offer a per diem and is compensated annually.
Required Skills
- Master's degree or higher in nursing with a university-identified major in psychiatric and mental health nursing
- ANCC board certification in psychiatric mental health nursing
- Active RN license in Kentucky and hold APRN credentials
- Valid driver's license and proof of automobile insurance
- Pass a required Criminal Record Check and a Sexual Offender Registry check
- BLS Certification American Heart Association (Healthcare Provider) or American Red Cross (Healthcare Provider) required, must be current
- ACLS Certification must be current
Required Experience
- Experience with a Psychiatric clientele is highly advantageous
- Proven track record of working effectively within a multi-disciplinary team
- Experience in conducting psychiatric evaluations and medication management
- Familiarity with regulatory and funding agency requirements for treatment plans and psychiatric reviews
- Proficiency in maintaining accurate and comprehensive patient records and reports
- Demonstrated ability to lead or participate in treatment team meetings
- Commitment to staying informed on Federal, State, and hospital regulations related to psychiatric nursing care
